Well, I have a new job! We visited the Van Hecke chocolatiers today in Belgium and learned how to make hazelnut filled bonbons. It’s pretty addicting and relaxing, actually. Lovely fourth generation family and the love they pour into their products is palpable.

Windblown and happy in Hastings Old Town today! Gorgeous weather but super windy on the beach, as you can tell. I love these old boats. The craftsmanship is Kuh-raaaazy! Love. It. Here.

Back with my friends in France! These two are a couple of the very few that can make me belly laugh. As in, p*e in my pants laugh! They are as goofy as I am and having this time after a dreary and boring winter to absorb their friendship has awakened my somewhat blah soul to know that life is actually really, really good. There is something about being with them that both uplifts and settles me. They are an important part of my family and my safe space. ❤️ I was tickled to meet Wendy from and we laughed about how we tell everyone we are Canadian instead of American for obvious orange reasons. Thankfully, my Southern accent gets lumped in with the French’s idea of an American/Canadian accent. The last photo is my favorite. We had obviously had enough of Sir Adi and I almost fell backwards laughing - seriously, it was touch and go for a minute. Great, great day and can’t wait to do it again tomorrow!

After making a firm decision to leave the antique shop and show world, I was in a wee limbo of okay-what-is-next. Enter my friend, Anne. A couple of weeks ago, she showed me her new office located in the middle of the one small business street in our very tiny university town. “Come in here with me, it will be so fun and so good for you”. My heart was thumping with panic but her enthusiasm and encouragement settled in, so I heard the words “YES! popping out of my mouth. Lease negotiated, keys in hand, painters and electrician hired, and bam. I now have a studio to work in for my beloved textiles. It is ideal. Not a shop but can sell if I am there, but a space that is my own to turn items destined for the rubbish bin into something that is fun to wear. But, why the apple? I was feeling a bit of uncertainty last week but when I walked in and watched the paint going up, it felt better. Then, I saw the painter’s apple on the trim with his dusty fingerprints sitting in front of Anne’s glorious pink and I knew. This spot would gently push me out of my beloved, quiet house and into the slow pace of town life. I will be moved in this weekend - just in time for me to leave at the end of the month for France 😆Like I said, not a shop (thank goodness) but can sell, a sort of open workshop, not loud and busy. Perfect.

Look at this place! We are so lucky to have a gorgeous daffodil farm right at the bottom of the mountain. Giddiness set in immediately and I wanted to wear a calico dress and sing some kind of a warbling song where the birds would sit on my shoulder. (sigh) I forced myself to ever-constant affection onto Anne, which she tolerated. I may have screamed “LOVE ME!!!!” Joy was smart enough to keep her distance…..😆😳

Happy Fourth Birthday to my baby!! The girls at McDonalds know Poppy and gave her a pup cup this morning, which was so sweet! I love this liitle girl so much that it is unhealthy and weird but I do NOT care.
