Dark & dingy was how our client described this room when they first moved in.

The original electrical layout had the room reversed which made the positioning of furniture awkward.

We re-wired one wall to allow for a media wall to be installed. We kept everything very simple and pared back. Lots of layering of neutrally toned textures that allow the Black-Bronze media wall to take centre stage.

The subtle cloudy qualities of the polished Marmorino on the remaining walls wraps the room in softness and allows the beautiful sunshine to reflect from its surfaces.

No longer dark and dingy, this room is a light, warm and inviting space, asking you to grab a coffee and a book and come and spend an hour or two relaxing.

Do you have rooms in your home that just don’t feel quite right?

When our client contacted us, they were unsure how to use two of their existing rooms. One stored all of the children’s toys but the children didn’t play in there. The other was an additional lounge that they didn’t really love and wasn’t set up to use as a family.

The brief was to create a family space that could be used for watching movies, occasional working, homework, crafting and eating!

By removing a wall and blocking up one doorway, we created the most enviable family room. It’s now so light & bright (even on the darkest of days, like today!) and everyone in the family is drawn to this room and it’s getting so much use.

There is an integrated fridge for movie night drinks and snacks. Plenty of storage for toys, extra blankets and board games. And lots of wall & picture frames that the client will be able to fill with family photos.

We used fabrics that are robust enough to stand heavy use and also easy to clean, whilst still feeling fresh & light.

Even in the depths of winter this room feels like a breath of fresh, spring air!

It most certainly is coffee time! (& maybe Bailey’s time too)

The last few weeks before the Christmas break is always crazy. So much happening with the children at school, preparing for Christmas at home, and progressing on going projects to get a little closer to the finish line.

I not had chance to reflect on the year that has gone but I intend to, early next week, before the chaos of the ‘Big Day’. Take time to count my blessings for all the wonderful projects I’ve been involved in, the beautiful people I’ve met and the ongoing relationships with suppliers and trades, without whom, my projects wouldn’t be possible.

But for now, it’s time to sit for a moment, with my coffee and appreciate this beautiful shot of a lounge, we recently completed, drenched in winter sun.

Do you ever feel like you want something different but don’t know what ‘that different’ is?

That’s the dilemma our client had with their lounge. They didn’t want wallpaper but also didn’t want a flat paint finish.

So we’ve opted for the walls to be wrapped in this silky soft Marmarino plaster. Its subtle nuance’s highlighted by the morning sunlight.

The wax finish picks out the beautiful movement in the plaster and it will create a very calm and relaxing backdrop to this lounge.

We carefully select each artisan to work with us on these specialist finishes. Samples are handmade and agreed as part of the overall scheme. This ensures that nothing is left to interpretation and our clients know exactly what they are getting.

We gave this playroom a glow up!

I find playrooms can be a misconception. We often dedicate a room in the home where all the children’s toys can be stored and they have a great space to play with their friends and it keeps the rest of the home tidy and plastic free….

The reality… children seldom play in these rooms and drag all the toys out and in to the living space where their adults are! Usually leaving a Hansel & Gretal trail in their wake!

In this home, the children were growing up and didn’t need a lot of their toys anymore. It was a dark space and mainly used for storage.

We took the wall down to the adjoining living room, closed up the extra doorway and created a beautiful, bespoke media unit and family seating area.

There is plenty of storage for the remaining toys and games, hidden wiring for gaming consoles and a comfy sofa that all the family can sit on and enjoy movies or board games.

The once dark, unused space is now flooded with light and the family have gained a gorgeous room that they can all enjoy, together.

Most importantly, little Alfie gave the sofa his approval right away! 🐾 🤍

Autumn edit... As the nights draw in and leaves crunch beneath our feet, it's the perfect time to share some autumnal accessories from our Boston Spa project. Warm ochres, burnt umbers, and rustic magnolia leaves bring the season indoors.

Add candles with cardamom, sandalwood, and gingerbread scents to cozy up your home for the darker nights.

Architectural lighting

This striking pendant is a combination of smooth graphite and perforated satin nickel. Industrial in appearance, the fitting omits a warm glow from the 14 concealed lamps.

As part of a pair, we wanted the lighting to have a strong presence in the room but not overpower the scheme. These fittings melt effortlessly in to the dark and moody surroundings.

Our client has the most wonderful busk made entirely of bolts. We decided it needed to be elevated so it would instantly capture the eye as you enter the room.

We commissioned a counter balanced pedestal using the same materials as the bar & display unit in the adjoining room.

The weighted system ensure it doesn’t wobble on the carpet and keeps it safe from toppling over when little people using it to help them stand up!

We added inset lights to gently illuminate the busk on an evening. This feature cascades the most incredible patterns on the wall around the pedestal & extends the interest of this piece beyond its physical boundaries.

It’s wonderful to see this sculpture finally getting the spotlight it deserves.

Our client hated the floor tiles in their kitchen from the moment they bought the property 3 years ago. They are now undergoing a major kitchen refurbishment and they couldn’t wait to say goodbye to the flooring!

This week the floor has been fully screeded and our talented floor fitter is marking out the position for the large format herringbone. The screed isn’t fully dry yet so install will commence next week. The flooring alone will transform the room, the kitchen will take it to another level.

Have a great weekend everyone 🤍

A beautiful bespoke staircase runner we’ve recently installed at our Boston Spa project.

I love the the subtly of the herringbone weave. Paired with the striped border it quietens the imposing black wood staircase.

A simplistic design that sits harmoniously next to the textured wall finish.
