Get in touch to find out more…… Hello and welcome to Amandas Treasures. My name is Amanda I am an upholsterer and soft furnisher located on the cusp of Coalvilles' national park. Amandas Treasures has been created to be the home of custom made curtains and upholstery for customers that struggle to find the luxury within the high street. In fact, it’s that bespoke that my passion to upcycle unwanted items will have you falling in love with your furniture again! The personal one to one service that I provide allows soft furnishings to be created from your own style and preference without having to deal with third parties. I offer home consultations and a wide range of fabrics to suit all tastes and ideas.

🔨 “I’M SCARED I’LL RUIN MY FURNITURE IF I DO IT MYSELF.”

This is probably one of the biggest fears beginners have.

And honestly?

I get it.

You’re looking at a perfectly good chair thinking:

“WHAT IF I MAKE IT WORSE?” 😳

That’s why guided learning makes such a difference.

You learn:

✔️ What to remove
✔️ What to keep
✔️ What to repair
✔️ How to use the tools
✔️ How to put it back together

And here’s the thing…

Upholstery is rarely one irreversible step.

If something doesn’t go quite right, there’s often a way to undo it and try again.

And if your fabric is already old, worn or dated…

What are you really going to ruin? 😉

That’s how you learn.

You’re not supposed to know everything before you start. 😉

Start with the basics:

🔨 Learn the tools
🧵 Understand the materials
🪑 Start with a manageable project
🏡 Set up a simple workspace
👩‍🏫 Learn from someone who knows what they’re doing

And most importantly…

Don’t start by trying to upholster a massive sofa on your kitchen table! 😂

Start small.

Build your confidence.

Learn the techniques.

Then take on bigger challenges.

Everyone who is good at upholstery was once a beginner.

This lovely Parker Knoll wingback came to me torn, frayed and most of its springs were missing… but the frame was solid and those wooden arm details were too good to lose.

✨ We stripped it back.
✨ Adrianne at A.E.L Furniture & Interiors refreshed the woodwork for us taking it back to a more natural tone.
✨ Brand new William Morris fabric, finished all the way round.

Same chair, just a whole new life.

There isn’t one answer.

But here’s what I’d look at:

🪑 Do you love the piece?

🏡 Is it the right size for your home?

❤️ Does it have sentimental value?

🏛️ Is it antique or particularly well made?

💭 Would you struggle to replace it with something you actually like?

Sometimes the monetary value isn’t the most important thing.

If it’s the only sofa that fits your room…

If it belonged to someone you love…

If you’ve searched everywhere and can’t find another one…

That matters.

Furniture isn’t always just furniture.

Sometimes it’s part of your story.

💷 “I DON’T THINK I CAN AFFORD TO REUPHOLSTER IT.”

This is something I hear quite often.

And here’s the conversation I’d rather have with you than simply saying, “That’s too expensive.”

What actually needs doing?

Sometimes the whole piece doesn’t need completely reupholstering.

Perhaps there’s a repair that will solve the problem.

Perhaps you can tackle some of the work yourself.

Perhaps it can be done in stages.

And depending on the project, payment options may also be available.

You don’t always have to do everything, all at once.

So if you’ve got a piece you love but you’re worried about the cost…

Ask.

Let’s look at the options before you decide it’s impossible. ❤️

Because sometimes the answer isn’t finding the perfect piece…

It’s creating it.

If you’ve searched high and low for:

🛋️ The right size sofa
🪑 The perfect chair
🛏️ A particular headboard
✨ A unique footstool

…and everything is either the wrong size, wrong colour or just not quite right…

There are bespoke options.

And sometimes an existing piece can be transformed into something completely different through reupholstery.

Your home doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s.

🍽️ DO YOUR DINING CHAIRS LOOK BEAUTIFUL… BUT FEEL LIKE A PARK BENCH? 😂

A beautiful dining chair isn’t much use if you’re desperate to get off it after 20 minutes!

The good news?

You may not need new chairs.

We can look at:

🪑 New foam
🧵 New upholstery
✨ A completely new seat design
🔨 Changing the construction of the seat itself

Sometimes a simple change underneath the fabric can make a huge difference to comfort.

So if your dining chairs are gorgeous but your bottom disagrees…
