Hannah's Room began as Claire Tinsley's hobby in 1997 and has grown considerably since then. Started initially in Claire's daughter's bedroom, (she is the one called Hannah!) it quickly grew to fill several floors of Claire's large house. Today there are more than a thousand fabrics and items available from stock, and new material arrives every week. Hannah's Room has become well known for the variety of Batik prints available and the BBC (Beautiful Batik Club), where members receive 6 new prints every other month grows larger almost daily.

🌳 A little Saturday afternoon inspiration! 🌈🧵

I just had to pop on and share this absolutely gorgeous creation with you all!

Our lovely customer Alison has sent us a photograph of her finished Gratitude Tree, and isn't it just wonderful? ❤️

Alison started with one of our Gratitude Tree kits and then added her own creative touches, making the design completely her own. She's even framed her finished piece, and I think you'll agree it looks absolutely stunning!

This is one of the things I love most about what we do at Hannah's Room. Our kits are just the starting point, and seeing how you take a design and make it your own is such a joy.

The beautiful colours, the stitching, the fabulous roots… there's so much to love about this one! 🍃

A huge thank you to Alison for sharing her lovely work with us and allowing us to share it with you all. It's certainly brightened up my Saturday afternoon! 🥰

We absolutely love seeing your finished projects, so please do keep sending us your photographs. They really do make our day!

What a fabulous couple of days with Bourne Quilters!

We joined the group on Monday evening for our Beauty of Batiks talk, followed by a full day of Bargello yesterday — and just look at what everyone created!
One of my favourite things about teaching this workshop is seeing how completely different every quilt becomes. The same technique, but such an incredible variety of colours, fabrics and personalities coming through. From beautiful soft blues and greens to glorious brights, rich autumn shades and even a little festive Bargello, they really were a fabulous collection.
And that group photo! 😍 So much work achieved in just one day, with lots of these quilt tops well on their way to being finished.
A huge thank you to everyone at Bourne Quilters for making Craig and me feel so welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with you and loved seeing all of your Bargello quilts come to life.
Now it’s back home for us and straight into preparations for our Autumn Retreat next week!

🧵 Calling all Journal Quilters!

Fancy a little creative challenge?

Grosvenor Shows are running their 2027 Journal Quilt Challenge, and with the closing date fast approaching, now is the time to get your entry in!

I've entered this competition myself in the past, and one of the things I absolutely love is seeing the wonderful variety of entries. It's fascinating how everyone interprets the same theme so differently, each bringing their own creativity and personality to their work.

This year's theme is Light and Dark, so there's plenty of scope to get those creative ideas flowing!

📅 Closing date: 16th October 2026

Whether you're a seasoned journal quilter or fancy trying something new, why not give it a go?

All the details are in Grosvenor Shows' original post below.
Happy creating! ❤️

DEADLINE: 16th October. A journal quilt is the perfect opportunity to break free from limitations, explore new techniques, play with colour and texture, and finish a satisfying little project! Please email a photo of your completed entry form (2 pages) where possible. Download an entry form: https://www.grosvenorshows.co.uk/competition-entry-forms/

Well, this feels right up our street! 🧵🌿
We've just spotted that RSPB Pagham Harbour's Mini Quilt Competition is back for 2026.
Combining textiles, stitching, creativity and the natural world — we couldn't resist sharing this one with you.
I'm rather tempted to enter myself too! Who else fancies having a go?
It would be lovely to see some Hannah's Room stitchers taking part. ❤️

By popular demand, we will be launching our RSPB Pagham Harbour Mini Quilt Competition 2026 very soon. Keep an eye out for details.

A little look back at our recent retreat… ❤️

It’s been just under a week since we came home, and we’ve already been receiving some wonderful photographs of finished projects from our lovely retreat ladies. Looking through them has reminded us just how much creativity was packed into those few days.

What an absolutely fabulous group of ladies we had! The sewing room was filled with laughter, encouragement, ideas being shared and, as you can see, some really wonderful work.

From coastal landscapes and beautiful quilts to bags, pumpkins and projects that have continued to be finished at home, we loved seeing everyone put their own personality into what they created.

For us, a Hannah’s Room Retreat is about having the time and space to be creative, trying something different, making friendships and spending a few days with people who completely understand the joy of fabric, thread and making. 🧵❤️

To all the ladies who joined us – thank you. You brought so much warmth, laughter and creativity to the sewing room, and we absolutely loved spending those few days with you.

Please keep sending us your finished-project photographs too! Seeing what everyone goes on to complete once they’re home is one of our favourite parts. ✨

Just look at what they made! 😍

Unfortunately, we have some disappointing news for anyone hoping to see Hannah’s Room at The Creative Craft Show & The Stitching Show at Westpoint Exeter this week.

Craig was due to be attending the show on behalf of Hannah’s Room, but yesterday he was unexpectedly taken into hospital by ambulance and has now been admitted. Sadly, this means we’ve had no choice but to withdraw from the show at very short notice.

We know quite a few of you were planning to come and find us at Westpoint, so I wanted to let you know rather than have you arrive and wonder where we are.

We’re incredibly disappointed not to be there, particularly after all the preparation that goes into getting ready for a show, but obviously some things are simply more important.

We hope everyone heading to Westpoint has a fantastic time, and we’re very sorry we won’t get to see you this time.
