Before choosing a sofa, I look at how the room needs to work.

Where do people naturally gather? How do they move through the space? What needs to be kept, and how might the room be used at different times of year?

A sofa can look beautiful in a showroom and still be the wrong shape or size for your home. I begin with the layout, exploring how seating, lighting and the pieces you already love can work together. Once that feels right, choosing furniture becomes much clearer.

It’s one of the most valuable parts of the design process: making sure the room feels as good to live in as it looks.

If you’re planning changes to your home but aren’t sure where to begin, I’d love to hear about your space.

Every detail matters… especially in a character cottage. ✨

The curtains, blinds and handmade lampshades have now been installed, and although they look effortless, there was a lot of thought behind every decision.

With very little wall space between the windows, the original plan for triple pinch pleat curtains would have created too much stack back, making the windows feel smaller. By changing to a double pinch pleat, I reduced the amount of fabric at each side, allowing the curtains to sit perfectly within the available space while keeping the proportions in scale with the cottage.

The sheer voiles provide daytime privacy without blocking the beautiful views, filling the room with soft, natural light.

On the internal window, I designed a Roman blind in the same fabric to dress the opening, create continuity throughout the room, and reduce glare from the kitchen beyond.

Good interior design isn’t just about choosing beautiful fabrics—it’s about understanding how every detail works together to make a room feel balanced, practical and completely at home.

✨ Sometimes it’s the smallest design decisions that make the biggest difference.
