This well loved sofabed has been used mostly by the junior members of the family for many years and had started to show its age.
The fabric had torn in some places and the arms had obviously been a favourite place to sit.
However once the old fabric was removed it revealed a solid frame that just needed some tic.
I repaired the arms and gave them some extra support. Renewed the webbings and fillings which will ensure it’s more comfortable. The seat pads and cushions were all replaced.
My lovely clients then chose this beautiful hard wearing fabric in shades of blue with accents of green thread through it.
It has totally transformed the look of the sofabed and made it like new. It can now be used and enjoyed for many more years to come.
When your furniture is good quality and it’s only the fabric that is starting to age, don’t throw it away - it may be more cost effective to reupholster it. And it’s better for the planet too 😉👌 ♻️ renewedfurniture renewedfurnitureandhomedecor

How lovely are these?! 😊

I made these beautiful striped cushions a couple of weeks ago for my client and they sent me this lovely photo of them in situ. (Very jealous of the garden btw ❤️)

What an easy way of brightening up your garden furniture. And if this weather carries on being warm, you’ll still be able to use them for a few extra weeks 😊

If you would like something similar why not get in touch. It’s a good time to do jobs like this when you’re not actually using your garden furniture as much and can be a relatively inexpensive way of updating an existing set.

I can’t believe it! It’s been a year since I registered A Wing and a Chair as a sole trader after doing upholstery part-time, but mostly being a teacher for the last 30 years!

I never quite expected it to be as successful as it has been, and will forever be grateful to my children, parents, family and friends who encouraged me to take the leap and have been my biggest supporters 🥰

I would also like to thank all my clients who have been wonderful to work for and trusted me with some of their precious possessions, or have just wanted to give their furniture a new lease of life 😊. I have enjoyed every new challenge.

I’d also like to thank Nigel who has been a brilliant mentor and has always been so supportive. I hope I’ll be as good as him one day! 😉

I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next….😊

This was something very different…

A good friend of mine came to me a while back and asked if I could ‘do something’ with a set of snooker balls that belonged to him and his brother as children. It was as a surprise for his brothers upcoming birthday.

So after some discussion we thought that maybe framing them somehow would be the best option.

After purchasing a box frame we quickly realised that it would most likely be too heavy to hang on the wall safely.

That was when the idea of turning it into a coffee table was suggested!

I made a wooden frame and upholstered it (a great suggestion from my friend who’d popped round for coffee 😊) and used some studs on each corner to make it look more like a snooker table.

The original frame was then lined with green baize, and the box, balls and original instructions were arranged and stuck down.

The cue that was (mostly) used for snooker - and occasionally a weapon 😆 - was sawn down and added too.

The final touches were the hairpin legs and some tempered glass to make it safe to use.

It was unveiled yesterday to the birthday boy and he was stunned and quite emotional as he recalled how the snooker table ‘was the best Christmas present they’d ever had’ 🥹

So lovely to think that now it has been preserved and every time the table is used it will be a reminder of all those happy memories 🥰

I really enjoyed the whole process and being part of something so special ###

This was a lovely project to do for my client. She wanted a small footstool recovered and restained to match her current decor.

I removed the dark rosewood stain and replaced it with a medium oak. It really brought out the grain in the wood.

The look was changed completely with a new soft foam top that will be much more comfortable.

My client had chosen this wonderful geometric tapestry print. It looks fabulous and the piping around the legs added a finishing touch 😊

I enjoy bringing old furniture back to life and this piece will now be used for many more years to come.

Happy Friday!!

Delighted to deliver and install these fabulous bench seats for my client this morning.

The beautiful Sanderson fabric with its geometric pattern is warm and welcoming and neutral enough for other colours to be added to complement the space.

The piped edging finishes it off nicely and adds an extra detail.

Now it’s a space that can be comfortably enjoyed by all the family and will be lovely to spend time relaxing on.

What a pleasure to give this gorgeous little chaise longue a whole new look.

It had belonged to my clients mother and she wanted to be able to use it again but the original fabric just didn’t go with their decor.

We used a lovely soft wool tartan in shades of grey and off white.

We then simplified the design by removing the buttoning and pleated base to create a much more modern finish.

It was quite a challenge to ensure the lines were straight on such a curvy piece of furniture! But I think you’ll agree the end result looks fabulous 😊

I was delighted to deliver this set of outdoor cushions to my lovely clients today. They have such a beautiful garden and pergola. Now they can use it again for the rest of the summer and all year round.

I loved the choice of this durable outdoor fabric with its basket weave pattern in the colour fern. It compliments the wicker furniture perfectly.

We added little details with piping and matching covered buttons.

I think you’ll agree they look fabulous! 🥰🥰

My lovely clients wanted to give their existing dining room furniture a whole new look. So we used this beautiful tan faux suede fabric, as well as my favourite William Morris print, to update them totally. They were thrilled with the results 😊
