Loving the stitching, really not liking how long these reels take to create 🤦🏻‍♀️. I might have to group a few days together after this!

I wanted to mention that I used the Stitch Bank to find a new fill stitch and that was how I discovered the name Leviathan Stitch! It's such an incredible resource.

A full day of cutting up fabric ready for the The Creative Craft Show at the Birmingham NEC from 5th-8th November (i.e. scarily close now 😬)

If you saw my stories today you'll know that I watched Sense and Sensibility (1995) while doing this just to remind myself how good it was. I laughed and cried (don't worry, the fabric was safe 😭), which was a lot more emotion than I experienced than when I watched the new version last week... Have you seen it? What did you think?

Just a little reminder about my online Social Stitch (check me out remembering earlier than the day before!)

It is on the first Tuesday of every month and has been running for a few years now 🤯. It is completely free and you can work on whatever project you like (or nothing at all!) It's from 8pm to 10pm BST, but it's very flexible and you can join and leave whenever you need to.

We are a very friendly bunch, there is normally talk about our various projects, events that we've been to, books, TV, films.... Some people talk, some have a quieter 2 hours and it's all good 😊

I send out the Zoom joining instructions on the day of the Social (Tuesday 6th October this month) to everyone on the Social Stitch mailing list so just drop me a DM with your email address if you'd like me to add you, no pressure to actually come, I don't take a register! Small business pals are more than welcome too.

Dot Grid is nearly here!! I'll be launching it The Creative Craft Show at the Birmingham NEC at the start of November but you can get planning now 🤔

I wanted a way to track different things, over different timescales and just give way more flexibility.

The oval hoop has a green cross for each year of my life, with a red cross overlaid for the years that I have been with my husband, and finally a purple cross for the years with Travis too 😍.

I played with a classic dot grid too, but I didn't like the stitched squares right up against each other, or too far apart... So that is why it's an uneven grid.

You can still fit a full 365 stitched squares inside a 12" hoop if you wanted to track for a year but why not try tracking something for a day or a week?

What would you do with it?

I needed a quick win today, something easy to tick off my to do list, so I've just packed up 10 of these thread packs to go in the full Year In Embroidery kits that I'll be taking to the The Creative Craft Show in November. I feel happier already! 😍🌈🎉

How is it possible that after 8 years of Little Light Stitchery I still forget to take photos?! This is literally all of the photos that I took yesterday at the brilliant Hopeful & Glorious Makers Market as part of the National Festival of Making in Blackburn ?! 🤦🏻‍♀️😳

The venue was beautiful, the vibe was perfect and the conversation was 🫶. Oh, and the sales didn't go amiss either 😉.

This weekend!!

Janis Gilpin and I will be hosting our Creative Community Table again and we're inviting people to bring their own projects to work on. You can sit down with us, take a break, share your work or perhaps something that you've done at a workshop. Think of us as a little retreat during your day!

Last year we invited people to answer the question "How does being creative make you feel" and we've made a visitors book from everyone's responses. You'll be able to add some embellishments to it on the day if you like.

How would you answer that question now?

Nearly finished! I started this hoop on the summer solstice last year and so yesterday was the last day to stitch!

Today I sat in my parent's beautiful garden and stitched the square to represent the Great North Swim last weekend (because I knew my Mum would have some sparkly blue thread in her stash 💙). Swipe to see my post swim face 😆.

I can't quite finish because my metallic silver is back in Liverpool and I have some joyfully sedentary days left to stitch. I'll be wrangling that next week...

I was asked to recreate this receipt from 1956 for an engagement ring 🤯. Swipe to see the original receipt and the stitching process. I loved every minute of this commission although I always feel the pressure when stitching something so meaningful!

From the customer - "Just wanted to thank you, so much for this special piece. Absolutely delighted with the detail and quality and the recipient was over the moon; it is on her wall already."
