The 275 year old 'Mathematical Bridge' in Cambridge pictured in 1890, compared to today.
Although the bridge looks like an arch, it's actually made entirely of straight wooden beams, cleverly arranged using precise engineering principles to create its curved appearance - that's how it got its name. The building on the right is the riverside building (ca. 1460), the oldest building on the river at Cambridge.
