Just a couple of first draft concept images of some acoustic light designs I’ve designed a few months ago using patterns from my wallpapers. This design is taken from my Glyph wallpaper ….. so naturally the light is called Glyph too 😁.
Before anyone says anything, I did say these are just first draft concepts, I know myself there’s loads of development to do on them, and I do want to get them developed and see how far I can take them (as there’s plenty more. This is just 1 concept/idea) and hopefully get it made!
To be honest I think this design would work both with lighting (as an acoustic light), and without lighting (as an acoustic sculptural piece).
Anyway. I need to work out things like:
💡How thick the acoustic felt segments will be (I’ve done them 9mm here as a starting point).
💡How many actual segments there should be, and how they should be spaced and connected. I’m sure people who know more about these things could help me with this.
💡The actual scale (height, width) of the acoustic light.
💡 Could this be turned on its side and maybe used that way? Could it be scaled down to be a table light?
💡What the actual light fitting/fixture will be inside it. Again, the one on show here is just a potential placeholder to show the idea/concept. I’m sure the right person with lighting knowledge can help me with this too.
💡The colours. I know I’ll definitely use the colours from my Glyph wallpapers, and I’ve shown 2 variations here: 1 all the same colour, and 1 with mixed colours (which would match my wallpaper designs obviously). So, it’ll be interesting experimenting with them and seeing what works.
Let me know what you think. Let me know if you can help me too 😊. Who knows, it could end up being something good!
