Join us this Saturday for our North Wales Contemporary Craft Fair and meet 13 independent artists, including Mixed Media by Carys. This weekend is also your last chance to see our current retail showcase in Siop Mostyn, Ysgrifennu. Our café will be open all day, drop by for a locally roasted coffee, a delicious snack, and to view our new showcase, Ffocws #8.

“I am a self taught artist from North Wales with a passion for nature, old rambling buildings and woodland areas. Lately I have been particularly drawn to the sea, which has inspired my latest work.”

Using acrylic paint on wooden surfaces, Carys Chester aims to preserve as much of the rustic feel as possible. The artist creates a magical, atmospheric quality in her scenes, looking to bring out the beauty in the ordinary.

Join us on 20 June for our North Wales Contemporary Craft Fair and explore the work of Carys Chester, alongside 12 other independent artists and makers from Wales and beyond.

“Rwy’n artist hunanddysgedig o Ogledd Cymru gyda diddordeb mawr mewn natur, hen adeiladau crwydrol ac ardaloedd coetir. Yn ddiweddar, rwyf wedi cael fy nenu’n arbennig at y môr, sydd wedi ysbrydoli fy ngwaith diweddaraf.”

Inspired by the natural world and in particular the colours and forms of the landscapes around her in North Wales, Rachel Hughes uses earthenware and stoneware clay to create functional pieces with simple forms and organic shapes.

She both throws and hand builds, then applies a base layer of slip to leather-hard pots, adding dynamic, free-flowing decoration using brushes and slip trailers before firing and glazing.
