It was a pleasure to present the winners of the Race to the Base half marathon yesterday with their Highland Stoneware prizes. Congratulations to them and all the runners crossing the finish line. Smiles all round despite the grim weather conditions!

With the arrival of Spring today, it's the perfect time to introduce the Mug of the Year - 'Birch', which this year has been designed by Kat Martin.
Kat is passionate about all things to do with nature and wildlife and has shared a little insight into what makes the birch tree so special:
"This pioneer species has iconic papery bark that is both waterproof and reflects light, allowing them to grow in exposed places without succumbing to extreme weather conditions. Over time, their twisting, winding, shelter-procuring presence creates a stable microclimate for other trees and all manner of flora and fauna to move into and call home."

As always, the Mug of the Year will be available to order until the end of December. It is a limited edition and each one will be signed, and numbered by Kat.

That's David ready to light the last Lochinver kiln of the year, which is crammed full of orders! Tomorrow, when it cools, Pauline and Cristine will work hard to empty the kiln, then grind, grade, and pack everything ready to post.
