Most candles start with a jar.

Ours start with powder and an idea.

Every vessel is mixed, poured, sanded and finished by hand before a single drop of wax goes in.

Then comes the candle itself.

Wick chosen.
Wax melted.
Fragrance blended.
Slowly poured.
Finished by hand.

From the vessel to the final candle, every stage happens here, in small batches.

It takes longer.

But that’s the point.

Because handmade candles aren’t about making thousands of identical pieces.

They’re about the subtle variations, the texture, and the quiet traces of something made by a person — not a production line.

And if you make candles yourself, one thing I’ve learned: don’t rush the vessel stage. Let it fully cure, seal it properly, and test your wax + wick combination in the finished vessel before producing a batch.

The smallest details usually make the biggest difference.

Each candle is poured by hand using soy wax and made to order — from sculptural forms to timeless pillars.

No two are ever quite the same. Subtle variations, soft textures and the quiet traces of the making process are all part of what makes each piece unique.

Behind the scenes at Nou Atelier — working through the final details of a beautiful wholesale order featuring our Oval Trays.

The last few touches: stamping each piece, adding the cork feet, and making sure everything is just right before packing.

Made slowly, finished by hand, and very soon on their way to their new home. 🤎

There’s something so satisfying about seeing a batch come together.
