It may be my favourite so far....

Back at the start of summer I had a sudden and overwhelming feeling of not needing but wanting to fill a void that I felt had been building for a while. (Also most likely connected to some sort of mid 40s life crisis, I am well aware! 😂😂🫣)

Long before I painted (and self taught) watercolours, and long before the likes of social pages the way they are today, I painted acrylics. Large canvases, based on mood, feeling and emotion.

My watercolour work is known for being loose, colourful, bright and eye catching.

My venture back down this path, is running concurrent, but is definitely more subdued and muted. Both in style and approach, and definitely only when the mood takes me....but this one I've really enjoyed.

I have created a new Instagram account that documents and follows this journey seperately into acrylics and canvases ,as oppose to confusing the two with those who are specifically interested in, have followed and enjoy the watercolour works and have done for years.

As with any new page, any follows, likes or shares would be greatly appreciated. Especially all those who've been here for a long time 🥰 I have always been so lucky with the support I've received with my work, and remain eternally thankful for all of it.

Behind the scenes......

Lots of new pieces added thanks to a busy couple of events! Restocking of favourites, and adding new items to both Etsy UK and eBay UK (link in bio via website). I have a lot of events booked in, during the coming months in the run up to the festive period, and as September looms tomorrow, it's definitely round the corner and will creep up before we know it!

OK, so I don't normally call this out. I don't. But today I'm putting my big girl knickers on and doing it.

As if the world of small businesses, independents, makers, crafters and artisans everywhere aren't battling the ever increasing daily battle against AI, and mass producing Chinese Markets ripping off our designs, work and processes, the insult to injury with messages like this are just something else.

Pricing isn't about profit. Any artist anywhere will tell you how much that world has changed. It is based on years of experience, ability, hours worked, earned and put in. Reputation. Your name. Your brand. It is about materials, the cost of those to me. It isn't a one price fits all situation.

This is an A2 original painting. It took a relative amount of hours to the price it is listed at. To be asked to have it for almost a quarter off the asking price, to me, I'd rather not sell it.

Not one client realises the costs incurred by sellers on certain platforms. Transaction fees. Listing fees. Ad rates. Sales tax. VAT on fees. Shipping. Packaging costs. If I sell this painting for £75, £20 less than it is listed for, after all the deductions? I would earn less than £50. Before postage.

For an A2 original painting.

So no, John Doe. You can't have this for £75. On this occasion I'd rather you find a print, a run of the mill, mass produced number off the high street for that price. Because insulting me, my work, the time, care, passion and effort I put in to every piece is not for you. It is original, certificated art for a reason. If you can't reach that, I absolutely understand, and thank you for your interest. But do not expect artists to bow down and reduce their worth to accommodate your lack of budget for an original painting.
