A French Louis XIII period walnut cabinet a deux corps, lovely colour and carved with the crowned L insignia showing loyalty to Louis XIII.
A very grand piece designed for show but also having a lot of storage space with double door cupboards top and bottom as well as two drawers, not an inch wasted!

Continuing the focus on the style of tge reign of Louis XIV 1661-1715
In the shop today..
An incredible Italian Baroque period gilt centre table, with original Brocatello marble slab top and bold pierced, scrolling legs.
Perhaps, the most unusual feature is the brazier centrepiece on the stretcher. A copy (with carved wood 'coals') of the large brass room-heaters which were filled with charcoal and could be moved around the drafty rooms where required.

Big house needed...!

A lot of large pieces have arrived this week, including a great Regency 6 leg Neoclassical serving table with gilt metal mounts.

A mighty 222 cms wide (7ft 3 ins), 80 cms deep and 91 cms high, breakfronted with two short frieze drawers. Unrestored and originally with back rails, a good, slightly faded colour. Photos online.
