Hungarian Folk Tales🇭🇺
Traditional Hungarian folk patterns woven into a story. Adjoining floral elements symbolize the tapestry of life, rhythm, continuity, and personal growth. Key moments in life lead from one event to another. It is a complex visual language, deeply rooted in tradition, that allows us to write our own stories.

Creative process (time-lapse): from acrylic painting on canvas, building layers through collage with waste materials, to separating layers by colour in Procreate on the iPad and refining details. Such a fun and therapeutic process.

Physical vs. Digital
This piece began as an acrylic painting I created during COVID. It’s been hanging on my wall ever since, until I finally saw the opportunity to revisit it and transform it into a digital artwork infused with folk patterns.

It’s a reminder that the creative process can start anywhere—and sometimes it takes years for an idea to fully develop. Often the solution is right in front of us; we just need to be in the right mindset to see it.

Hungarian Folk Reimagined🇭🇺

Leftover coloured foam paper meets traditional regional Hungarian folk (Kalotaszegi Irasos Diszitoelemek). The result is an unexpected fusion where tradition gets a modern twist☺️

Ready for Screen Printing

I’ve separated the colours into individual layers. This artwork is now ready for screen printing and could easily be adapted into a textile design for lampshades or posters. The collage began as a physical composition, which I refined in Procreate and Illustrator to create the final digital artwork.

I really love this process!😍

Amazing day at the Victoria & Albert Museum yesterday – the Islamic, Indian, and Japanese collections are stunning. The craftsmanship of these tapestries, textiles, wood carvings, and ceramics is incredible. It’s mind-blowing how they made all of these by hand with such precision and detail. It’s a place of inspiration for anyone interested in decorative arts, and it’s completely FREE 😍

From Black and White Photo of Westminster Station to Colourful Textile Design

I started implementing the technique I learned at the Design Museum Textile Design workshop. It’s really good fun cutting out colourful shapes inspired by architectural forms. The collage technique is a simple but effective way to transform the design into a 3D mockup ready for textile.

This process is called abstraction.

Repeat pattern ✍️
I love drawing patterns and motifs — it’s such a calming, meditative process. Procreate is brilliant for digital design; however I always start with a pencil sketch in my sketchbook. I’m often inspired by nature, urban architecture, folk motifs, and pottery decorations.
