Today is the day we are saying our goodbyes to La BohΓ¨me forever as it’s officially been handled to its new owner John🌊

We will miss the cosy winter evenings next to the stove, the parties with friends, waking up to different sceneries every two weeks, the smell of croissants in the morning and the insane queue as soon as we opened the hatch, waving to passers by whilst on the move and coming across boater friends that we met on the cut, the sound of the coal boat passing, not having to pay bills, the paddling pool on my roof in the summer, the sound of the swans knocking on the window, the silly questions passers-by always asked, the barbecues on the roof and the late night drinks watching the stars.

It was an amazing 3 years and we have truly been lucky to live this crazy adventure.

Today was our very last day running The Floating Boulangerie. The last time we opened and closed the hatch. The last time we greeted a long queue of hungry customers. The last time I got woken up by the smell of pastries. The last time Jeremy woke up at 3am to bake.

For all of that, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We still cannot believe a lockdown hobby became a successful business. We still don’t believe how much support and love we received. We still cannot believe how many times we’ve seen our faces in magazines or watched ourselves on TV.
When we started The Floating Boulangerie, Covid was at its peak, we were scared of losing our jobs, we didn’t know what the future held for us. Jeremy was used to work 16 hours per day and quickly got bored being on the boat and not doing anything. He started to learn how to make breads and pastries as we couldn’t really find any. We started giving them away for free to our boat neighbours to cheer them up, it was a hard time for everyone and it was very hard socialising so we just decided to share our pastries to make people happy. Few weeks later we had a massive queue of people wanting pastries and bread. I always encouraged Jeremy in everything he wanted to achieve, and despite the unprecedented situation COVID put us in, I was convinced he would succeed. I told him to leave his job and to focus on his project. I carried on working myself, just in case we needed financial support, and I helped Jeremy running The Floating Boulangerie at the top of my full time job for about a year. I was exhausted but it was so worth it.
We worked so hard, put our hearts and souls in this project, and I’m very emotional saying thank you and goodbye to every single person who supported us in the last 20 months. We’re quite heartbroken to leave such a wonderful community behind. We will forever be grateful.

Please hope France treats us well.

As per our announcement few weeks ago, we will be closing the hatch of The Floating Boulangerie for the very last time on Sunday 19/12.

It is with a very heavy heart we are saying goodbye, we cannot thank you enough for this crazy year and half, it’s been the best adventure we could dream of.
We met beautiful souls, collaborated with amazing people .chocoholic .official , had the most precious support of the UK and French press, had the best customers, organised the most beautiful pizza nights with the most talented singers .robertson, .music, … Our hearts have truly been filled with love and joy, you guys as a community supported us in the darkest and most unprecedented times, you helped us building something special during a pandemic, and we will never thank you enough for what we achieved.

We are going home, for new adventures and we hope they will be as beautiful as the adventure we had with you all.

Come and say goodbye before we go.

Putting our lovely floating home for sale.

La BohΓ¨me has been our home for the last 3 years, we love every moment spent on her, and our life on London canals was the most epic adventure we could have dreamt of but it is now time for us to start a new chapter πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

La Bohème is a 57x10 widebeam canal boat built in 2004 by Fairy Hills. She has been fully re fitted in 2019 with brand new floor and a new modern interior custom made.

La Bohème is a 2 bedrooms boat.

The master bedroom is very spacious and cosy with a built in wardrobe and plenty of storage space under the king size bed.

The single bedroom is actually being used as our stockroom however we used to fit a single bed and a desk.

The bathroom has solid oak flooring and a beautiful wooden wall. It’s equipped with a shower and a dry compost toilet.

The open plan kitchen is very spacious and functional. The huge oven will allow you to bake and cook for friends and family. It is equipped with very clever storages and a lot of custom made shelving.

The living room is very airy and luminous.

The huge Morso stove will keep you warm all winter, and for the very freezing weather, the boat is equipped with central heating.

6 solars panels and a set of 4 brand new leisure batteries will allow you to produce your own electricity and be completely off grid.

A reverse osmosis water filter will allow to create your own water and never run out of water. This is a complete luxury being on a boat as you will never have to queue at a water point and to take unlimited long showers.

This is with a very heavy heart that we have taken the hard decision to sell The Floating Boulangerie.

We will be in touch with our customers to let them know what will happen with memberships, vouchers and future bookings.

It has been hard enough to come to this decision we hope we won’t upset anyone.

We hope you all know how grateful we are for the endless love and support we received from our community.

WE WILL CONTINUE TRADING AS LONG AS WE CAN AND WILL GIVE YOU ENOUGH NOTICE BEFORE CLOSING DOWN WHEN THE BOAT IS SOLD. WE ARE HOPING TO BE HOME BY CHRISTMAS.

La Boheme is a 57x10ft open plan widebeam built in 2004 by Faries Hill.
It is the perfect size for cruising on London canals but also offers a spacious and luminous interior.
There are two entrances : a double metal door on the bow and a metal hatch type of door on the stern.
We have recently converted La Boheme as a successful floating food business and would love finding the right person to take over, however we have been living on it too so it can also be purchased as an accommodation only.
This is the perfect opportunity for the right person to take over a very successful floating business with a huge social media community (7.5k followers) and a turnover of over 70k in 2020 (only trading 4 days per week).

Possibility to:
Take over the brand and concept and being fully trained by us,
Take over our social medias (Facebook and Instagram) and website,
Take over our business licence, BBS certificate and food hygiene rating.

We have 4 pages in the ! We’re very proud even if there are unfortunately A LOT of discrepancies. It is a bit of a shame that the Director who came to visit got lots of informations wrong, some are meaningless (call me Sophie as much as you like) but some are way more important to us (the confusion between the white sourdough loaf and the baguettes, the number of chocolate sticks in our pain au chocolat..)

It’s still an amazing article for visibility and we hope to reach a great new clientele despite the few mistakes here and there, 4 pages in a magazine which is devoted to help people leading a more fulfilled life since 1993.

We offer two different memberships at the moment, the Breakfast on Board and the Cheese on board.

β€’ How does it work ?
