✨ Homemade Baklava – Crispy, Buttery & Nutty! 💚🥮

Golden, flaky filo pastry layered with crunchy nuts, drenched in sweet lemon syrup… every bite is pure heaven! 😍

📝 Ingredients

For the Baklava:

* 1 pack filo pastry sheets
* 1 cup chopped pistachios or mixed nuts
* 250 g melted butter

For the Syrup:

* 1 cup sugar
* ½ cup water
* 2 tbsp lemon juice
* 6 cloves (لونگ)

🥣 Step-by-Step Method

1️⃣ Prepare the Syrup
Add sugar, water, lemon juice and cloves to a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer until slightly thickened. Remove from the heat and let it cool completely.

2️⃣ First Layer
Grease a deep baking dish. Lay down the first filo sheet and brush generously with melted butter. Repeat until you have 8 buttered sheets.

3️⃣ Add the Nuts
Spread half of the chopped nuts evenly over the filo layers.

4️⃣ Second Layer
Add 4 more filo sheets, brushing each sheet with melted butter. Spread the remaining chopped nuts evenly on top.

5️⃣ Final Layer
Repeat the layering process with 8 more filo sheets, brushing each sheet generously with melted butter.

6️⃣ Cut into Pieces
Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into squares or diamond shapes before baking.

7️⃣ Bake to Golden Perfection
Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake for 10 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 150°C and bake for another 45 minutes, or until beautifully golden and crisp.

8️⃣ Add the Syrup
Remove the baklava from the oven and immediately pour the cooled syrup evenly over the hot pastry.

9️⃣ Let It Rest
Allow the baklava to rest for 4–5 hours so the syrup can soak in and all those delicious layers can settle. Then serve and enjoy! 🤎

💡 Pro Tip: Keep the filo sheets covered with a clean, slightly damp tea towel while working to prevent them from drying out.

Save this recipe for your next dessert craving! 📌💚

Mango pickle is a traditional Pakistani condiment made with raw mangoes, spices and oil. In Pakistan pickles are relished as a side in every meal. It is eaten with dal-rice, dal-roti, parathas & even with many breakfast dishes. Pakistani cuisine is diverse so a mango pickle is made in many different ways. I am sharing the easiest recipe to make it at home
Mango pickle
Ingredients
400 grams raw green mangoes,peeled & cut into strips
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon red chilli flakes
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon nigella seeds
1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
1/2 cumin seeds
1 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons Crushed Garlic (optional )
Method :
In a small skillet, heat oil until it smokes, then turn off heat. Allow oil to cool fully.

In a glass bowl, add chopped mango & add salt,chili powder, fennel seeds, mustard seeds, kalonji/nigella seeds, fenugreek seeds, and turmeric mix well together.
Add crushed garlic in warm oil & stir well.Pour cooled oil over mangoes so that all pieces are submerged. Mix well.
Transfer mixture to dry sterilised jars.
Leave jars out in the sun for 1 week to let mangoes soften.Stir every day to mix well.

P.s Store mango pickle in a glass or ceramic jar. Do not use plastic jars for storing pickles, the taste of the pickle changes and it is unhealthy to use plastic containers for storing pickles.
