An interesting pair of Antique Silver Candelabras, German, circa 1880.

With unusual figural mounts, the scrolled branches are surmounted by seated cherubs, the centre column has a swan support and the base has a pair of winged female sphynxes with intertwined tails. The tops can be dismounted to use the candlesticks separately.

Stamped around the candlestick base and candelabra top with a set of matching German silver marks. The maker’s mark is possibly “GH” in cursive script.

A Fine Pair Of George IV Antique Silver Sauce Tureens, By Maket Philip Rundell of the famous Rundell, Bridge & Rundell, London 1820.

With detachable handles and matching stands. Excellent weight and plain classic design, with sarcophagus shape and rustic ring handles. The raised lions paw feet are magnificent. The tureens and stands are engraved to one side with a boar’s head over a coronet.

An exceptional quality set of George II Antique Silver Tea Caddies in a Box by Maker Christian Hillan, London 1739.

Of plain, straight sided form with sliding tops and hinged leaf finials. 2 rectangular boxes for green and black tea and a centre box (on scroll feet) for mixing and/or sugar. All fitted in a beautiful velvet-lined shagreen case with key. The hand chased silver decoration with scrolls, flowers and shells is absolutely exquisite, with the greatest attention paid to every detail. A charming feature is the small garniture of deep relief roses to the front and back of the square box.

An excellent quality pair of George III antique silver tapersticks by Maker Maker Thomas Hannam & John Crouch, London 1765.

With distinctive square, stepped bases and swirl decoration. Stamped on the underneath edge with a full set of English silver hallmarks.

Silver tapersticks, averaging about 5 inches high, are miniature table candlesticks used to hold a wax taper. Tapersticks would typically be found on a desk as they were not used for lighting; the melted sticks of wax were used for sealing letters, to give a flame for to***co pipes or to light large candles. They are rarer than candlesticks and very few existed prior to the Queen Anne period. They usually appear in singles and pairs of tapersticks command a premium price.

George III Antique Silver Tray With Royal Provenance by Maker Hannam & Crouch, London 1779.

A fantastic quality large oval presentation tray with cast, beaded border. Finely engraved to the centre is a magnificent Royal coat of arms for King George III and his wife Queen Charlotte. The lion supporter has the portrait face of George III. The arms in the dexter side are those adopted after the “Act of Union 1800” and were only in use from 1801-1816, telling us the date of the gift. Engraved below the arms is a plain “GM” cypher.

Stamped underneath with a full set of English silver hallmarks. The cast border has the lion and maker’s mark.

The tray was made in 1779 but gifted in 1801-1816. The simple explanation is that it was common practice during the reign of King George III to gift “older” silver from the Royal Plate collections rather than buying brand new items.

A handsome William & Mary Antique Silver Tankard by Maker Robert Cooper, London 1699.

This lidded tankard features a flat lid and rattail thumbpiece. Excellent size and weight. Lovely plain design, gadroon borders and hand beaten silver; the cover has a stamped band of acorns encircling the centre. Hand engraved to the front is an expansive family coat of arms within a baroque cartouche.

Stamped on the top of the lid and on the body below the rim with a full set of matching English silver hallmarks, maker’s mark to the handle.

A wonderful Commonwealth Period antique gold portrait locket, dated circa 1653.

This lovely little historical item is a portrait miniature of Thomas Kynnersley of Loxley Park, Staffordshire wearing a black cloak and small white collar tied with tassels. Beautifully painted in oil on copper in circa 1653 when the young man was 22 years old. The portrait, by an unknown artist, is housed in a heavy gold locket frame with ring attachment; the reverse finely engraved with an armorial within foliate scroll mantling, initialled T.K, and inscribed ‘Aetatis Suae.22.1653’.

An exquisite piece of handcrafted jewellery. Probably a gift from Thomas to his wife Sarah.

George II Antique Silver Soup Tureen By Maker Charles Kandler I, Dated Circa 1735.

A stunning quality early English tureen and cover with finely modelled lion’s head handles and lion’s paw feet; the lid with a large artichoke finial. Good size and heavy grade silver. Hand engraved to the front and reverse with an expansive family coat of arms and to one side of the lid with a dog crest. A rare early example by a sought after and enigmatic maker.

A fabulous quality antique silver plated flagon, circa 1870.

This tankard is of monumental proportions and deeply embossed with a scene from Greek antiquity with loosely draped figures in a garden setting. The interior has a deep gilt finish and the tankard looks wonderful with the lid open. Stamped underneath with the Elkington logo and pattern number 1335.
