I met so many people over the 5 days inside Elys Wimbledon & I wanted to come introduce myself to my new followers👋🏾

As a pattern designer with a textile background, I thought this picture against the fun patterns inside DREAM FACTORY was just so apt for this post!

My name is Mahin Hussain & I run a small business creating bright artwork in London. My work is inspired by my Pakistani roots & childhood memories. I wish I could explain the madly vibrant Pakistani society but since I am not very good with words, I use my colour and patterns to do the talking.

At my last pop-up I was asked so many times why I do what I do. Migrating to the UK at the age of 38 was definitely hard. I left behind family, friends, my career & a very comfortable life. The desire to express my identity through my art has only grown here. As a creative, I found this medium to be the perfect way to form connections with all the new people I was meeting.

I have been very very lucky to have worked with some incredible people in the last 5 years. Commission for Victoria and Albert Museum, rooster scarves inside the Design Museum as part of their The Offbeat Sari Exhibit, collab with Arts Temps & a second year with the brilliant Wimbledon BookFest creating their programme cover illustration.

I absolutely love what I do. I am very ambitious and work very hard to achieve my goals. I have 2 cute babies & I want them to learn how much you can achieve with dedication/motivation/discipline.

I have no words to describe the last 5 days inside Elys Wimbledon for the Anniversary Community Market. It could not have been possible without Alexis Alexis Hutchings 🙏🏾

The love, appreciation and praise was just crazy.

My scarves proved to be the star of the show! For those who are familiar with my style know my passion for colours & bold pattern. My silk scarves are a total and utter embodiment of that look. I have nearly run out of my scarf collection and am now trying to plan new designs for the festive seasons.

When I found out, I will be taking part in Elys Wimbledon 150 year celebrations I could not believe it. The first thing I did was order these neon Wimbledon Risograph A4 Prints 😍😍 You have to see them IRL to believe how brilliantly neon pink they are!

For a full 5 days, local makers/artists have been invited for a spectacular Anniversary Community Market.

We will be back for Day 4 tomorrow Sunday 30th August and would love to see you there !! Our last day will be Monday 31st August.

For those who have not managed to visit, you are missing out! I am there with my Wimbledon themed products ( including my latest Wimbledon Risograph ) Tea towels, cards & notebooks. My silk scarves have been super popular along with my cards.

My Wimbledon artwork was a big hit at Day 2 Elys Wimbledon Anniversary Community Market.
Can I just say how wonderful the Elys customers are! So kind and generous with their praise! 🙏🏽

I am extremely tired but so so pleased that my art is finding so many new homes & bringing you all joy! On the topic of Joy, I sold out my Joy bags today as well 🙌🏾

Bank holiday weekend is here & I would be so delighted to see you all come down to Elys in support of local makers! Alexis Alexis Hutchings has done a fantastic curation of local artists/makers & honestly it will be a real shame to miss it :) From art to skincare, candles to jewellery, womenswear to children’s wear, you will find a whole collection of wonderful creations.

Today was the day a lady told me they could not find a bright scarf at Galeries Lafayette Paris but found one she loved in my collection Elys Wimbledon Anniversary Community Market. I mean how insane is that!!!

I met stephanie.p_xox and her lovely mother inside Elys today. We had the most amazing conversation about my inspiration, aspirations and style. It made my day to hear them say they could see originality/ individuality in my art💋

I will be back for Day 2 inside Elys tomorrow from 9:30-6pm. It is such an honour to be part of Elys 150 year celebrations🎉🎉 Anyone who supports local artista/makers is the best in my eyes😍😍 so big thank you to Elys!! A special mention to Alexis Alexis Hutchings for the curation!

I can’t tell you how thrilled I was when the amazing Zero-Waste Textile Accessories finished these silk scarves in time for Elys Wimbledon Anniversary Community Market starting tomorrow at 7am!!! Yesss!! Elys is celebrating 150 years in the heart of Wimbledon and they invited local artists for a 5-day Pop up! This brilliant curation is by 🫶🏽

The Riverside Radio | SW London Local Radio radio will be doing their breakfast show live from Elys!! It will be quite an experience I tell you!

Coming back to this gorgeous silk scarf, say hello to my Shahzada scarf! This artwork was commissioned by Victoria and Albert Museum for their Great Mughal Exhibit 😍😍

I have 4 new 100% silk scarf designs waiting to welcome you tomorrow inside Elys. The ground floor looks absolutely stunning with local talent & their creations!

I have been working with Antonia .press for almost 5 years now but this I felt was their best work yet! This print is not an ordinary digital print! This is a brilliantly executed risograph print with the use of neon inks. To say this is a supremely special A4 print would not be an exaggeration. I have lived in Wimbledon for 6 years out of the last 10 & it is now home. To showcase Wimbledon in my bold & floral style has been a total dream!

The best part is that this print has come just in time for my first ever pop up Elys Wimbledon Anniversary Community Market from Thursday 27th to 31st August. Elys is celebrating 150 years and a selection of local artists will be trading at this market. A big thank you to Alexis for curating this event!

A lady at a market a couple of months ago asked if I had a Wimbledon Print and I thought I definitely need to do one. So for the lady who has Tooting but wanted Wimbledon for her walls, this is for you 😍

It is with complete and utter joy that I announce my participation in Elys Wimbledon Anniversary Community Market celebrating 150 years.

I will not lie but so many times I walked past the pop-ups inside Elys and thought oh so cool, would love to be a part of it too! Finally here I am 🙌🏾🙌🏾

Elys as an independent store in the heart of Wimbledon serving the community for over a century is just so perfect as a backdrop to this market. With the high streets simply withering away, to have Elys support local makers is huge.

For me personally as a local resident, it is a place I visit frequently and I am thrilled to now be showcasing my work there. Not to mention my children were so happy when they heard my work would be on display :)

I would love to see the whole community come visit us from 27th to 31st Aug. Thanks to Alexis for the fantastic curation, I promise there will be some amazing creations for you to see. Also, you will be able to meet and chat with the makers. Hearing stories about each work is possibly the best part of shopping small.

I will be bringing my popular Wimbledon Tea towels & notebooks. I am also launching Wimbledon Prints at the market🫶🏽 The shiny sticker sheets, patterned coasters and so many vibrant products will be available too.
