Flowers speak of love; the way it takes root, then grows with a tender wildness all of its own. So too is the cosmos of life, abundant and untamed, forever reaching towards the light. Life is a riot of roots, petals, chance and colour, intertwining and unfurling in ways we cannot predict, forever flowering beyond our knowing.⁠

For pondering all of life's complexities, we find the perfect spot to do so is at the table. Today dressed with a meadow like scene from our collaboration with John Derian. Acquaint yourself with Botanical Wildflower, a study of stems and petals from 18th and 19th-century botanical decoupage.

Start the new season with our new collection of four hand-sculpted and hand-painted 'Lady Clover' ceramics. ⁠

Inspired by 19th-century faience pottery and the deliciously theatrical world of 18th-century French playing cards, figures bearing a billet doux, a love letter, appear throughout. Roses tumble from garden urns, while a tiny four-leaved clover hides amongst the decoration, just in case you need a little luck. ⁠
⁠
Terracotta forms dressed in white slip, washed in our signature avocado green and drawn over by hand with ceramic pencils. Each one is an object with a story to tell and rather good company for the season ahead...⁠
⁠
The generous, organic forms sit somewhere between sculpture and vessel, while the marks, quirks and subtle variations of the handmade surface reveal the maker’s hand.⁠

A little whimsical, a little eccentric and very much at home around the table, the collection is dreamed up for Summerill & Bishop by Sophie Wilson Sophie Wilson . The hand of the maker is very much at the heart of this collection’s story.

Our home away from home is all sun-warmed stone, wild herbs and the scent of pine drifting down toward the sea. The air tastes faintly of salt; cicadas whir in the heat and bougainvillea spills over aged walls in bursts of blush.⁠

By late afternoon, the Mediterranean turns impossibly blue, while the hills glow gold and the whole peninsula slows down. This is the hour for rosé à la piscine, the French art of enjoying a rather generous glass of chilled rosé poured over ice.⁠

Our table is set beneath a shaded canopy, its stripes echoing the sun, sea and sky. Bottles of rosé await their pour, clinking upon ice cubes as the afternoon stretches toward aperitif hour...
