A scatter print designed for the winter months ahead.

The Foglia pattern pairs a rich, hand-painted backdrop – shown here in deep blue and vibrant green washes – with a leaf design block-printed entirely in gold. On the printing tables, the pear-wood stamps are struck with a heavy mallet to bond the gold pigment onto the pure flax fibres, before the completed linens and napkins are hung to dry naturally across the workshop rafters.

While these painted colour washes bring an artful depth to a room, the leaf design can also be block-printed directly over raw, natural linen for an understated, neutral base. We tailor these tablecloths for standard rectangular settings, round tables, and custom dimensions to fit any gathering precisely.

A closer look at the physical craft behind our latest table linen arrival.

To create the Beatrice collection, the master printers rely on a precise, manual wax-resist method. The intricate damask motif is first stamped onto the raw fabric using wax to shield the flax fibres. A deep blue mineral pigment is then swept across the canvas entirely by hand – a process that leaves natural brushstroke variations across the cloth before the wax is washed away.

From a single block of dense pear wood to the finished details of a set table.

Because of its immense scale, the Beatrice motif must be split cleanly across two interlocking woodblocks. To keep the damask pattern continuous, the master printer aligns these heavy sections manually by eye – a testament to the absolute precision required in the Stamperia Bertozzi workshop.

When the artisan strikes the timber with a heavy wooden mallet, the carob brown mineral pigment transfers into the un-dyed flax. Because the carved wood holds the colour with a non-uniform density, the physical impact creates natural tonal graduations, leaving a fluid texture that resembles a watercolour wash.
