I studied Ceramic Design at Central Saint Martins and after I graduated I worked as a product designer. After 6 years of designing I really missed making so I decided to buy a kiln and create my own tableware designs. I opened my Etsy shop and on my weekends I tested the waters at various makers markets. After a fair amount of trial and error, through Etsy I joined the London Local Team, which is
an amazing community of London-based Etsy
sellers (closed in June 2019). I've learnt and am still learning so much from this great team of people. I have just taken a year off for maternity leave and it's great to have new ideas I want to work on, but be able to have flexibility to work around family life. I'm drawn to patterns, bold graphics and colour. Inspiration is found primarily in London, from the wealth of galleries and museums, architecture, nature and the rich mix of cultures. My own Chinese heritage has been an increasing influence on my work. I source my bone china tableware from Stoke-on-Trent. The dream would be to screen print my own ceramic decals but at the moment I rely on specialist printers for my designs. I apply all my designs by hand, then fire the bone china to 820ยฐC. Designing and making products that people use everyday is a real joy.
