A wine wall under a staircase, designed to read as part of the architecture above and around it, rather than as later joinery placed beneath it.
The Matt black metal framework is drawn directly from the Matt black metal staircase spindles. The soft blond oak racking sits in dialogue with the flooring. Climate control is integrated behind the joinery with limited vent visibility. Inside the cellar: aged Bordeaux, working Burgundy, and large-format bottles given the racking depth to age properly. For architects and designers specifying wine storage in domestic projects, the under-stars wine wall format is becoming the more relevant brief, especially for those looking to showcase their wine collection.

From our workshop in Essex to the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Le Cellier sits at the heart [email protected], the Park Avenue restaurant from and the Barnes Group. It is a private dining room for ten, designed as a fully immersive wine experience; guests are surrounded on every side by a 1,374-bottle collection drawn from Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhône and beyond.

The cabinetry is hand-built in oak with a light stain, combining standard horizontal racking, scallop racking and label-forward angled display. Lockable drawers with bronze-edged inlaid bases secure the rarer bottles. Concealed cabinetry behind the main display holds glassware and decanters within arm's reach, so the sommelier remains present with guests throughout service.

A cellar designed to be utilised during service, not looked at from a distance. Built in Essex, shipped across the Atlantic, installed on East 63rd Street.

From Essex to Basel. 🇨🇭

When an asset manager designed his dream home in a Swiss village near Zurich, the wine cellar wasn't an afterthought. It was the first thing on the plans.

2.8m ceilings. 20 square metres. Dark walnut. 5,106 bottles and counting.

"Even our builder said he'd never seen anything like it."

He travelled to England to see the craftsmanship in person before committing. He has no regrets. Only that he didn't go bigger.
