New to treowe: the ceramicist Emily Mitchell.
Working from her studio in Norfolk, Emily makes hand-built, thrown and painted ceramics, and almost every piece carries a story. She is drawn to the way everyday and historic objects hold their own histories, taking ideas from classic fiction, literature and the museum collections and archives she spends time with.
She has a soft spot for the souvenir: small, hand-sized pieces made to be held and kept. Ceramics run in her family too. Emily’s mother is the ceramicist Judith Onions, known for her modernist redesign of the classic blue and white striped Cornishware.
Come and see Emily’s work in store, with more to come soon.
