It’s rare for someone to book a workshop not to create a masterpiece, but to explore what’s living inside them.
Every so often, someone walks into the studio with no intention of producing a perfect piece ,only the desire to explore an idea, a colour, an emotion that’s been quietly waiting to be seen. Those are the moments that remind me why this work matters.
One of the most memorable sessions was with Alison Jackson — the British BAFTA‑winning artist, photographer, and filmmaker known for her fearless exploration of celebrity culture. Despite her global recognition, she arrived with the humility and curiosity of someone who simply wanted to play with ideas. No pressure. No final image in mind. Just the joy of experimenting, questioning, and letting the unexpected surface.
It’s rare for people to book a workshop purely to explore their inner world through a medium, to see what their thoughts and emotions might look like once they take shape outside the mind. But when they do, something powerful happens.
Sometimes we create exactly what we imagined.
Sometimes something entirely new appears ,something we didn’t even know we were carrying.
That’s the real magic.
Not the perfect artwork.
But the moment of recognition: “Ah… this is what I’ve been holding.”
