📰 Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama students bring Ayrton, Astera, and MA Lighting International to the Sherman Theatre for Guys and Dolls

We recently sat down with Charlie Hills, a student at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, who worked as the lighting designer for their production of Guys and Dolls at the Sherman Theatre.

Ambersphere were proud to support the production by loaning Ayrton fixtures for the show, which was programmed and operated on grandMA3 and also featured Astera PixelBricks.

ROXX Light ICON F8s take centre stage at Somerset House ✨

After becoming the first in the UK to add the ICON fixtures to their stock, it didn't take long for the team at Nub Sound Ltd to put them to good use! Tom Boulden, Head of Lighting at Nub Sound, opted for the ICON F8 complete with their barndoors to create a beautiful backdrop for Palace.

Tom commented “I spent ages looking for a Fresnel that looked good not only as a front and back light, but also for eye candy too. I tested loads of fixtures, and the ICON Series were the only ones that ticked all the boxes."

"Jon from Ambersphere was really helpful. He recommended the fixture and came down to demo it for me, and I instantly fell in love with it. They’ve been a great asset to our lighting stock and have been out on events almost the entire time we’ve owned them.”

Astera and MA Lighting International used in S4C's coverage of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 🏅 🏅

Lighting Designer, Robert Owain Jones decided that Astera's PixelBricks were the right lights for the job.
"It was the perfect fixture for the job. I hung a lot on the set, and also being able to adjust them to use on the floor worked a treat!"

Robert also controlled the kit using a grandMA3 light.
