The spaces that endure are the ones where nothing was chosen. Everything was decided.

There is a difference. Choosing asks: which of these works? Deciding asks: what should this be? One question produces a room. The other produces a place.

That refusal — to accept the adequate, to reach instead for the inevitable — is the work. Before the drawing, before the material, before the detail itself. The decision to ask the harder question.
