Always one of my favourite stops when I’m in New York 🗽

I love visiting our showroom Studio Four NYC on Broadway. We’ve been working together for many years, and it was so good to spend the morning with Stacy, David and their amazing team, catching up in person, talking through the collections and hearing their thoughts and insights on the US interiors market.

Their experience, advice and incredible eye are so inspiring and have really helped us grow over the years.

We’ve worked on some wonderful projects together, and there is always something new to discuss, discover and get excited about.

And seeing all our fabrics hanging together in their beautiful showroom, surrounded by so much colour, pattern and incredible design, just makes me… happy! 💛

There are moments when stepping away is the only way to find your way back to your creative centre. For me, that place has always been New York, a city whose rhythm, architectural scale, and creative energy hold my heart. So deep!

After everything earlier this year, immersing myself in art has become pure therapy.

Stepping straight from the flight into African Modernism at was deeply grounding, these architectural structures and graphic compositions have long informed my own textile collections and design philosophy.

Following that with the emotional resonance and mastery of Frida and Diego offered an evocative reminder of how personal history shapes visual expression.

Ending at The Studio Museum in Harlem was ao powerful. It holds a profound significance for me in how it elevates, preserves, and celebrates the pinnacle of Black artistry and cultural heritage.

Art is really where my perspective resets. It is where tonal balance, form, and layered storytelling align to create meaning within a space.

I have returned to London with a full heart and more clarity, feeling inspired for the new chapter of Eva Sonaike.

I took a quiet pause this summer after the fire, and to be completely honest, stepping away really gave me the clarity and space I so much needed.

Returning to the new studio feels amazing, but still a little unfamiliar, and things are gently shifting.

For so long, you’ve known me for my colourful, joyful palettes. But as a designer - and as a person -you evolve and change.
When and invited me to work with their Heritage Whites, this resonated deeply with me.

Embracing white was never about playing it safe or stripping away personality; it is about creating breathing space. I always believed that when the surroundings soft and grounding, your textiles, art, and furnishing collections have the room to shine.

This feels like the start of a softer, more layered chapter for my work - still rooted in contemporary African design, but held by an understated, tactile calm.

I want to start by saying a massive thank you for all the love, support, kind messages, phone calls and texts I’ve received over the last few days. It means so much and has really kept me going. 🙏🏾

A quick update.

There’s not a lot to say really… we lost everything. And when I say everything, I mean everything we had in the office and had built up over so many years!

Samples, stock, archives, memories… all gone!

But in all the darkness, there is light. Thank God all of our print files were digitised, and as of today we are already back producing and fulfilling orders. I’m so grateful.

My heart goes out to all the fellow businesses affected, especially those who were less fortunate, had no insurance, and lost their livelihoods. It’s heartbreaking.

Above all, the most important thing is that no one was hurt. No lives lost. And for that, we give thanks. 🙏🏾

We are working on how to come back stronger now and despite all the stress, I feel strong and focused on building something bigger and better!

Last night, our London studio and office burnt down in a devastating fire.

I still can’t quite believe I am writing these words.

Years of work, stock, samples, materials and memories gone overnight.

What matters most, and what I am deeply grateful for, is that no one from our team or any of the other businesses in the building was hurt. My heart goes out to everyone affected.

I received the news from afar and am still trying to process it all.

For now, many of our products will unfortunately be unavailable, although some of our cushions, lampshades and other pieces are thankfully safe in our warehouse.

I will be back in London next week to understand the full scale of what has happened and to start picking up the pieces with my team.

Right now it feels overwhelming, but if there is one thing I know, it is that even in loss there can be space for new beginnings.

Thank you for all your support, your patience and your kind messages. It means the world to me.

My spirit and soul are full!

I’ve just returned from the opening weekend at , and what a special experience it was.

More than a decade ago, I met the incredible Bukky from at the British High Commission in Lagos. When she called me recently and invited me to participate in the opening of Tales House London, my answer was an immediate YES.

From the moment we first met, I was inspired by her passion, determination and commitment to championing African brands, creatives and entrepreneurs.
Her energy and beauty are infectious, her vision inspiring, and her dedication to elevating African excellence has left such a lasting impression on me.

This weekend, that vision came to life beautifully.

Located at 23 Cavendish Square, just moments from Oxford Street, Tales House London brings together an inspiring collection of African brands, fashion, design, lifetstyle and culture in one vibrant space. The conversations, sisterhood, connections and shared experiences I experienced today exceeded all my expectations.

It was wonderful to reconnect with new and familiar faces, discover exciting new brands and celebrate the incredible creativity emerging from Africa and its diaspora.

What makes this even more exciting is that Bukky has secured this space for an entire year, creating an ongoing platform where different African brands will be showcased and celebrated throughout the year ahead. If you haven’t visited yet, I would highly encourage you to do so and follow their journey.

Bukky, thank you for your vision, your generosity of spirit and for creating a space that allows us African businesses to be seen, celebrated and supported in the heart of London. You continue to inspire me 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

And yes, I couldn’t leave empty-handed. I may now be the proud owner of a few (more) beautiful pieces from fellow African brands that I absolutely fell in love with.

My products are there until 11 June and I’ll be 💯 back to experience the forthcoming events!
