A Keepall lobby. An Alma café. A Speedy bedroom. A Neverfull gym. A Noé bar.

The translation is so clever. Material, colour, proportion and craftsmanship move from an object into an entire interior.

Why this Bruges gallery gets the relationship between art, design and architecture so right.

OBJECTS WITH NARRATIVES has opened its new Bruges gallery inside the 18th-century Hôtel d’Hanins de Moerkerke, allowing the architecture to become part of how you experience the work.

Room after room arranged in enfilade, with aligned doorways drawing you through the building and eventually to an oval bo***ir with hand-painted ceilings.

I love seeing contemporary collectible design in a setting like this. Historic architecture, new work, craftsmanship across different periods. Each one changes the way you see the other.

I keep discovering another detail I love in this West Village pied-à-terre by Mike Moser for Caroline Bell: a vintage Knoll sofa in Pierre Frey velvet, Jean Lurçat tapestry pillows, Osvaldo Borsani chairs, and Georges Jouve sconces. Sourced slowly through auctions and galleries, it’s an interior that rewards every look.

A West Village pied-à-terre full of the most beautiful vintage collectible pieces. A Knoll sofa in Pierre Frey velvet, Osvaldo Borsani chairs, Georges Jouve sconces and Jean Lurçat tapestry cushions. Each piece sourced over time through galleries and auctions. That is how you end up with a combination of pieces this special.

There is something so lovely about an interior that has been that considered. You feel it when you look at it.

Katrien van der schueren’s Ark of Us series at Onna House in East Hampton. Puzzle-like wall sculptures with secret chambers concealed within, each one drawing on the wunderkammer tradition. The craft is extraordinary. The first and only collection of this series in the United States.

No trip to Florence is complete without a stop at this amazing gallery. FLAIR, tucked in Via Maggio, is filled with sculptural pieces in bronze, stone and wood, bringing contemporary design together with vintage finds and French modernism. I return every time I am in the city and it always feels worth another visit.
