Active Grids architecture studio, based in London and Athens, was founded by Dimitris Potiropoulos and Liana Nella following their successful partnership since 1989 and their practice reputation for excellence in design spanning twenty five years. Joined by David Pryce in 2013, their strong team of highly creative and talented architects and designers addresses the world market, providing full ser
vices in design, supervision and consulting across the spectrum and in all scales of architecture and city planning. The studio is supported by associate firms which cover all the relative fields including structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, traffic and transportation engineering, hydraulic, marine and coastal engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental studies, project management, etc. This rigorous approach leads to buildings which are responsive to the site, environmentally responsible, and of the highest architectural quality. Active Grids focuses on the added value ensured by design research, which helps improve the quality of life and benefit the environment and human civilization in general. Whilst occupied with its assigned projects, the studio often seeks to participate in architectural competitions which give the opportunity for innovative approaches by posing research challenges. Thus, there is interaction between experiment and practice in the design process, which constantly contributes new ideas to the production of built works. Active Grids studio has repeatedly been awarded in competitions and has received many distinctions whilst many of its buildings are the result of these awards. Some of the studio’s projects have been presented in architectural exhibitions, and have been published in the architectural and general international press.
