The most luxurious playroom we’ve ever created!

Part playroom, part TV room, this is a colourful little wonderland designed for the whole family – somewhere to relax, watch, play, party and generally have fun.

Every detail was considered: Pierre Frey fabrics and wallpaper, Osborne & Little and Thibaut fabrics, bespoke artwork, bold paint colours (including teal ceiling!), playful patterns and beautifully crafted bespoke pieces, including lighting by Pooky.

A riot of colour, texture and pattern, brought together to create a room that feels joyful, sophisticated and completely full of personality.

Who said family spaces have to be sensible!

Designed by Timothy James Interiors – creating bold, personality-packed homes in Richmond, Chiswick, West London and beyond.

A bedroom we designed for a boy, with enough style to grow with him!

We designed this room for our clients’ son, who was only nine at the time. But we wanted to create something that would feel just as cool as he grew and moved into his teens.

No overly childish themes that would need completely rethinking in a few years. Instead, a space with personality, humour and plenty of room to grow and evolve.

The starting point was a strong monochrome palette, layered with deep charcoal walls, graphic black-and-white prints and pops of red. The result feels bold and playful, without ever losing its sense of sophistication.

We brought in plenty of personality through the details, from the comic-book wallpaper and football artwork to the chess table, Spider-Man figure and carefully chosen objects dotted around the room. These are the things that make a bedroom feel personal, rather than simply designed.

Practicality was just as important. A generous desk creates a dedicated space for homework, drawing or whatever else comes along, while open shelving provides plenty of room for books, collections and treasured possessions. Bespoke-style storage adds even more function without compromising the look.

This bedroom was part of a much larger family home project, where we designed the house from top to bottom. We loved creating a space that felt completely right for him at that age, while knowing it could grow and change with him over the years.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned through interior design projects, it’s that calmer decisions usually lead to better outcomes.

Beautiful homes should not come at the cost of unnecessary stress!

Planning carefully, allowing time for ideas to evolve and approaching projects in phases can make the entire process feel far more enjoyable – and far more manageable.

If you’re planning a project of your own, I’d love to hear from you.

A small detail for handover day.

We left a bottle in the w**e fridge for the client to enjoy on their first evening in the apartment – once everything was complete.

The design itself is deliberately restrained: clean lines, integrated storage and a material palette that feels calm rather than overworked.

It’s often the quieter elements – lighting, layout and small touches like this – that make a space feel properly finished.

A rich, textured living room we designed and installed for a home in Richmond, West London ✨

The brief called for a balance of mid-century modern influences with a contemporary edge, while drawing colour inspiration directly from the client’s own artwork.

This room formed part of a full ground floor renovation, where we designed five spaces. It’s a sweet spot for a project - large enough to make a real difference, but nicely manageable when it comes to meetings and decision-making. And of course life is always that little bit easier once building works begin! 😅

Feeling summery here after the gorgeous bank holiday weekend 😎

It’s got me thinking of long days and warm sunny evenings again…

This pic was taken last July as we drove along the breathtaking Big Sur coastline in California. One of those experiences you wish you could bottle.

Roll on summer! ☀️ 🙌
