A bedroom we designed for a boy, with enough style to grow with him!
We designed this room for our clients’ son, who was only nine at the time. But we wanted to create something that would feel just as cool as he grew and moved into his teens.
No overly childish themes that would need completely rethinking in a few years. Instead, a space with personality, humour and plenty of room to grow and evolve.
The starting point was a strong monochrome palette, layered with deep charcoal walls, graphic black-and-white prints and pops of red. The result feels bold and playful, without ever losing its sense of sophistication.
We brought in plenty of personality through the details, from the comic-book wallpaper and football artwork to the chess table, Spider-Man figure and carefully chosen objects dotted around the room. These are the things that make a bedroom feel personal, rather than simply designed.
Practicality was just as important. A generous desk creates a dedicated space for homework, drawing or whatever else comes along, while open shelving provides plenty of room for books, collections and treasured possessions. Bespoke-style storage adds even more function without compromising the look.
This bedroom was part of a much larger family home project, where we designed the house from top to bottom. We loved creating a space that felt completely right for him at that age, while knowing it could grow and change with him over the years.
