There’s not a single motivational quote that will inspire us more than an image of biodegrade mulch rolled out on the fields, plants growing, with a big blue sky above.

This tasty image has been picked from ~ growers of organic vegetables, fruit and flowers. Their farm shop sells their homegrown produce as well as other locally produced products like honey and jam.

🌼🌺🪻🌷🌼 They also have pick your own flowers in late June / early July!! 🌼🌺🪻🌷🌼

A must visit situated on the Kent and East Sussex boarder. They use the lightweight cornstarch film which works really well for courgettes.

Reposting photos from Huw’s account as feeling proud to be a small ingredient of this polyculture project. The pictures were taken in 2025 after they hand dug three swales and planted them up with herbs, vegetables, poplar and alder trees. The result is a colourful cornucopia of plants, produce and foliage.

Our natural paper mulch was used to stop grass from taking over on the swales.

I’ve bought Huw’s books before (“The Vegetable Grower’s Handbook” and “Veg in One Bed”) and he now has a new one out, titled “How to Grow Food” written with .sam.black I’m particularly interested in the polyculture chapter, as would love to achieve this kind of mad abundance that’s so visually spectacular!

Thank you Huw for using the paper mulch on your beautiful garden and for mentioning it as part of this permaculture project.

Seeing photos of a professional flower grower using the paper mulch is delightful and makes us want to grow more flowers! is a Nottingham based florist, growing and arranging seasonal, British grown flowers from their cut flower garden for weddings and events across the UK.

Always so good to see how and where the mulch is being used. When people order, you don’t necessarily know their instagram accounts, so when following and this sequence of photos popped up, it was a treat to see, delighted. It’s also the first time we’ve seen shiitake mushrooms and mulch together, even if accidental! (have a read here - it’s such a lovely visual account of their homestead in Aberdeenshire)

Roberts Farm Shop are a family fun business that have been in operation for over 60 years. They offer a wide range of top quality fresh fruit and vegetables, sourced locally.

Working as a team at their Farm Shop in the West Midlands….And working as a team planting this year’s pumpkins! The lightweight cornstarch film is the perfect match for pumpkin growing, it can be machine laid or rolled out by hand - a good intuitive method applied here using rope.

Kate Unwin does a lot! I was going to simply re-post her Gardening Blog where she kindly gave a nod to the mulch she has been using to establish beds, which is “brilliant for transforming very w**dy scrub land” - But instead I got lost browsing her artwork on her online shop

The Seasonal Boxes she creates are wonderful and can be sent to you “like a gift from a friend”. The first image I posted is her illustration from the Summer Solstice edition…..Pre-orders close 3rd June!

The other images show the process of them creating beds with the Heavyweight Cornstarch, laid out at their woodland site near Builth Wells, in Wales.
