In our Nottinghill townhouse, I designed the dramatic Brinjal kitchen as the centre point of the lower ground floor. It sits between the dining to the rear and a casual lounge at the front but is open to both allowing light and laughter to carry through the space. The deep colour sets the mood for a more muted palette of colours on this floor, in contrast to some of the brighter colours we’ve used upstairs. We treated the ceiling with a glow paint to@give the illusion of height and bounce light, which makes the overall space feel larger. A great trick for spaces with less light or lower ceilings.
