I started Equality Floss with a vision to illuminate those hidden struggles and to stitch a tapestry of community where support weaves through every thread. Walking through the aisles of abundance in our local supermarket, it’s a stark reminder that not all share in this prosperity.

For some, the shelves are just a reminder of what’s out of reach.

My aim has always been to do more than just fill bellies; it’s about fostering a sense of self-worth and belonging. Dignity should be a given, not a gift.

Despite being one of the wealthiest nations in the world, the UK has one of the highest rates of food insecurity in Europe. According to recent research, over 4 million people in the UK experience severe food insecurity, meaning they go without food for entire days or longer due to a lack of money or resources.

I aim to make a measurable difference with my social enterprise Equality Floss by using 51% of our income to support those in need. My goal is to make it as easy as possible for businesses to find the staff they need, provide meaningful employment opportunities for candidates, and address inequality and poverty issues.

While the issue of food poverty in the UK is complex and challenging, there is hope for the future and I’m proud to be part of a growing movement of social enterprises and individuals who are working together to tackle food poverty and create a brighter future for everyone.
