Here's a trick we use before laying LVT.
We lay a torch flat against the subfloor and look along it. Every high spot, dip and rough patch shows up as a shadow, and you'd never spot any of it in normal light.
It matters because LVT is thin. It will show what's underneath it sooner or later, and a bump you can't see today can turn into a visible ridge or a worn patch down the line. We'd much rather find it and sort it before the floor goes down.
It's not the most glamorous part of the job, but it's a big reason the finished floor looks as good as it does.
