I only source wood for my bowls from windfall, diseased trees or from trees that have been cut down for safety reasons.

From chopping boards and pizza boards to a small set of drawers, it’s amazing how many different pieces can be transformed with those unmistakable branching burn patterns.

Every piece reacts differently, meaning no two designs ever come out exactly the same — and that’s a big part of what makes Lichtenberg burning so interesting to watch.

This video is only a small selection of what David has created so far… there’s plenty more to come! 👀🔥

Another placemat, but a completely different burn pattern.

That’s the beauty of Lichtenberg burning — even when you start with the same type of item, the electricity takes its own route and creates something totally unique every time.

This one has come out with some brilliant branching detail across the surface.

The branching burn patterns spread across the surface completely differently every time, making each piece one of a kind. It’s a great way to turn something simple and practical into something with a lot more character.

Really pleased with how this one turned out.

Something a little different this time — David’s adding Lichtenberg burning to this bamboo penguin.

The branching burn patterns work brilliantly against the lighter bamboo, giving the piece loads more character while still keeping the penguin shape as the main feature.

Definitely one of the more unusual pieces to get the Lichtenberg treatment!

The electrical burn creates those branching patterns across the surface, giving a simple everyday item a completely different look. Every burn travels its own way, so the finished pattern is always unique.

Really satisfying watching this one take shape.

I love how the natural figuring and shape have been kept in the finished piece, giving it loads of character and making it completely one of a kind. No two bowls are ever the same, and this one has its own real personality.

The natural shape, rich colour and incredible grain patterns make this one really stand out. Pieces like this are always a reminder that the wood does most of the talking — I just help bring it to life.

Every angle on this bowl shows off something different, and that’s what makes working with timber like this so rewarding.
