From Grandma's Stash

From Grandma's Stash Pretty bits of knitted and sewn nonsense to brighten your day. Original designs from upcycled fabrics

I inherited my Granny's knitting needles and a huge pile of ribbons, buttons, fabric bits, lace etc from my Grandma. I began making things for my own granddaughter and my friends, and so From Grandma's Stash was born. All sorts of things adorn my shop, and hopefully there will be something lovely for everyone to find.

Thankyou to my rather wonderful shop neighbours 😘🥰Young and OldGeorgia Marie Jewellery###

Morning all!
A further update on Grandma One-Eye!
The surgery went well on Thursday and the check up was good on Friday. Grandma is at home with a sore eye but slowly improving sight. She has to keep her head down for a few days to aid healing so Noisy Grandpa is taking over the Stash for the next couple of days, closing at about 1.30ish.
In the meantime, Grandma is making pom-poms. As you do. No doubt there is some plan for them, but for that, chums, we will just have to wait….

Update on Grandma One-Eye!
Surgery tomorrow so the shop will be closed on Thursday and Friday this week. Noisy Grandpa is planning to open Saturday and Sunday morning until approximately 1.30, and our frankly rather wonderful shop neighbours Young and Old and Georgia Marie Jewellery will help out if you need anything.
Tabby is also available to help. Apparently.
Anyway, we will let you know about opening hours next week as soon as we know! Thankyou for your patience and good wishes.###

Well now, despite the current eye patch situation, the training continues for Grandma and Liz at Georgia Marie Jewellery.
So regardless of a sore toe, dodgy knee and one eye ( Grandma) and blisters building on both feet (Liz), they battled through sunshine, showers, and chest high stingy nettles and thistles to complete a walk of just under 10 1/2 miles today.
If you would like to sponsor their walk, please use the link below, and encourage them through the pain!!! Thankyou.

It seems sewing one eyed is indeed possible ( to a degree!)
Anyway, following suggestions from a number of Grandma’s friends, today she was trying this new look. No parrot was available, so she went for a chicken. Of course.

Thankyou so much for all your kind wishes yesterday - they are very much appreciated xx

Hello everyone!
We just wanted to explain why we were unexpectedly shut today.
Yesterday afternoon, Grandma had a sudden eye problem which resulted in loss of sight in her left eye. After a visit to A&E , she and Noisy Grandpa returned to hospital for further tests today. Apparently the sight loss is due to a bleed at the back of the eye, which may require surgery to correct, but is being monitored for the next few days.
Anyway, she will be back in the shop tomorrow ( to find out what sewing with one eye is like !🤣) So, if you do pop in and she seems a bit distracted, she probably can’t actually see you very well, so bear with us!! We may have to shut at short notice on days next week, but we will try to keep you posted.
In the meantime, Grandma is very proud of these Suffolk Puffs she made, one-eyed, this afternoon 😁🤣

WHAT IS THIS?
quiz for you this morning!
Grandma’s family visited this week and her cousin brought her this beautiful object!
Now, we do actually know what it is, but it foxed our lovely shop neighbours (Young and Old, Georgia Marie Jewellery), so we thought we’d see if any of you clever peeps recognise it . Give it a guess below!
And don’t forget to like this post please!😉

SSSHHH….
Whilst our lovely shop neighbour, georgia_marie_jewellery is away, we have snuck these frankly rather fabulous pieces into our shop. How unutterably cute are these seagulls and puffins? Gorgeous little pieces at pocket money prices, available at From Grandma’s Stash for one week only! ( then they will be back in their proper home, two doors down 😉)

Further additions to our Father’s Day gift ideas, as promised! These are those popular little card holders, but this time less flowery! These fit with our brilliant repurposing ethos, as they are made from shirts and pyjamas!

Welcome!

A few years ago, I inherited my Granny's knitting needles and a huge pile of ribbons, buttons, fabric bits, lace etc from my Grandma. Despite doing quite a lot of knitting as a youngster, I really hadn’t done anything for years. However, I had always had an interest in making things (A true Blue Peter girl!). I began sewing things for my own granddaughter and my friends, and so From Grandma's Stash was born, originally as a fabulous hobby. Having been ill some years ago, when the opportunity arose to give up full time work, I took it. I started attending craft fairs and shows, and then the chance to have my own little shop, complete with craft area, came my way. Reader, I leapt at it! Now, all sorts of things adorn my shop, as I experiment with the preloved fabrics and haberdashery that I use. Rarely are two items the same! I make and sell a quirky variety of beautiful things, from cushions and coffee pot covers, to bags, brooches and notebooks, as well as a small selection of clothes and accessories, for both big and little people, and lots of other things in between. My shop is frequently described as an Aladdin’s Cave, with so much to see, and I am always happy to talk about sewing and how things are made. We are now branching out into sewing classes, to hopefully spread the love of making things.
