Cat'N'Wheel Pyrography Pyrography is the art of decorating wood with fire. It was intended for a purpose that had absolutely nothing to do with wood.

I create handcrafted, rustic wood-burned pieces—personalised gifts, home décor & keepsakes—made with heart and inspired by nature, family and simple living. Just after returning from Canada in 2017 I bought this funny looking little thing from Lidl called a wood burner. It also wasn’t the tool I actually needed at the time, but of course I didn’t realise that until after I had purchased it. I now

had this tool I had no use for (or so I thought) and was too lazy to return. So, I thought I might as well find out what it’s actually meant to be used for. Little did I know that I was about to discover a new passion (or some might say obsession). I was immediately fascinated by the amazing art I was seeing and couldn’t wait to use the wood burner for its actual purpose…to burn wood. Over the years I have turned into a bit of a pyromaniac (not my words…). With encouragement from family and friends, I have now decided to put my work out there.

Another batch of Lourdes keyrings is underway. ❤️

There’s something so simple, yet incredibly satisfying, about burning each individual dot.

It might look like a small detail, but every single dot is placed and burned with intention. Slowly building up the design, one tiny mark at a time.

Pyrography can be a very slow process, but that’s part of what makes handmade pieces so special. No machines, no rushing — just a steady hand, a little patience, and lots of care. 🔥

A little work-in-progress update! 🔥

I'm currently working on another batch of keyrings for our local Lourdes Committee, and this video shows me adding the finishing touches to one of the St. Brigid's Cross designs.

The St. Brigid's Cross is one of Ireland's best-known symbols. Traditionally woven from rushes and placed in the home, it's associated with protection, peace, and blessing for the household.

St. Brigid herself is remembered for her kindness, generosity, compassion, and care for those in need—values that continue to inspire people today.

It's always a privilege to create pieces that carry such meaning, and I hope everyone receiving one will treasure it for years to come. ❤️☘️

Progress is slow but steady. 🔥

With the recent heatwave in Northern Ireland, I've struggled to find the motivation to switch on my pyrography tool and expose myself to even more heat! Having moved here from Germany 15 years ago, I've definitely become accustomed to the colder weather.

Thankfully, there's no rush to get this piece finished. Handmade art takes time, and I'm enjoying the process, trusting that every detail will come together exactly as it should.

For now, I'm taking it one burn at a time and making sure each detail gets the attention it deserves. 😊

Another progress update! 🔥

I could speed these videos up and fit a lot more into them, but I actually like showing the process in real time. It gives a better idea of just how slow woodburning can be.

For me, that's one of the best parts. In a world where everything seems to move at full speed, pyrography forces me to slow down, be patient, and focus on nothing else but the piece in front of me.

Progress might be slow, but it's definitely moving in the right direction. 😊

That's all my orders completed for now, and with a two-week break from markets ahead, I finally have a little downtime to focus on something I've been working on behind the scenes for the last few months.

It's definitely way outside my comfort zone, but that doesn't stop me from giving it a go! In fact, I'm really excited to see how it all comes together when it's finally finished.

I'd ask you all to guess what it is... but I think it's probably pretty obvious already... at least for the Northern Irish folk among you! 👀
