Have you ever...
Found something that reminded you of a period in your life almost forgotten?

This 2002 wall planner was hiding in a box of tricks.
A trip down memory lane, to a time when we had no ties other then a Border Terrier and Dan was still working full time in his proper career.

Charity fairs were a world all of their own, there were Premier League fairs such as The Mary Howard fairs and then smaller local fairs such as the lovely NSPCC fair at Aston.

The American airbase fairs were like stepping into America, and both me and the van searched each morning by the American military who addressed me as Ma'am 😅

We literally drove to fairs north of Glasgow (Duntreath Castle, which was like Monarch of the Glen!)
Down to Tunbridge Wells (a Girls school, where I caused chaos by going the wrong way in the one way system at pick up time!!)

A moment in time, when card payments were imprinted on paper vouchers, and no online shopping x

Is it possible to do a classy Halloween?

Or does it always have to be plastic....
We paired our orange coral tablecloth with the orange placemat...and spent an afternoon creating an alternative look for Halloween...
To see the end result read my latest blog post x

Adding some autumn colour.
I've been out running in addition to walking the dog and I'm seeing gorgeous rich autumn colours everywhere.
The faux pomegranate are a new introduction at Bowley, the fruits look really effective when added to real foliage. They come in a branch form...I'll be doing a little demo in the coming days xx

So this morning, I decided that the shop planters were well ready for a spruce up.
Cue excuse for me to visit my favourite garden centre...Vertigrow! This really is the best, so much choice, reasonably priced and everything in such good nick. I bought:

Viburnum Tinus trees
Variegated Ivy
Ornamental Cabbages
Viola (for the side window boxes)

We get asked a lot, what the evergreen shrubs are in the planter and they are Viburnum Tinus Eve Price.

This wonder shrub is so hardy, it loves a container and is fairly fast growing. When it gets established it can be clipped like box, but unlike box, it doesn't succumb to blight or the elements!!

I purchased more this morning, as we've also planted up the planters on the other side of the alleyway. These don't belong to us, but everyone assumes they do!! An empty neglected planter is a sorrowful sight.

I love ornamental Cabbages too and Vertigrow had lots currently residing in a polytunnel.

Years ago, while skiing, we stayed in a little Italian town, that wasn't particularly touristy or flash. But every single store had the most amazing shop front, with wonderful planting.

And thank you to all the appreciative comments from the many folk who walked the alleyway while I was at work x

A little catch up on last night at The Cook's Place. Festive Fizz and Tables was a collaborative event with me styling tables and my lovely friend and neighbour Gilly creating wonderful canapés and served with fizz.
With 50% of the ticket sales going to Jack Berry House, here in Malton.

Whilst it's true, I do spend a good proportion of my week styling tables, it's not something I've ever done before in front of a live audience!! But what a lovely, fun evening.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported x

Week 2 of our weekly back in stock and new arrivals.

I've taken on board the feedback regarding my severe expression last week...I liken it more to a rabbit caught in the headlights😅

Anyway, lots of arrivals this week, many of which are Christmas pieces (available online) but we'll leave showcasing these a little longer.

But elsewhere, we've been busy styling autumn tables, and we've welcomed back our brilliant cast iron twine holder.

And I love the Artichoke pots, the green glaze is so rich and these will really lift a space. Beautifully made and generously proportioned.

Have a lovely weekend x

This week I'm styling tables ahead of next weeks table event and a brand new collection online, that will encompass our key looks.

All.of our tableware is designed to mix and match with existing pieces...so you can take one piece and style it with the tableware you already have!!

I'd forgotten I had these cute vintage Marmite jars...I picked these up in Tetbury antique market 5 years ago this week.
Filled with these pretty Dahlias to tone with the lovely gourds supplied by .

I am terrible at sharing both restocked pieces and new arrivals.
I try to add them to our weekly newsletter, but I always forget to flag them up on here🤦‍♀️

So here is a little update, the milk bottle/candle top combo was hugely popular last year and the converter works in lots of different bottles too!

The long Charcuterie board is also a brilliant piece that we personally use over and over again, particularly for use as a sharing platter.

Part of my reason for adding the new pieces to this post, is to give myself a deadline for adding them to the website...next week I promise! x
