I know we haven’t been posting much lately, but there has been plenty happening behind the scenes here on the flower farm. 🌱
Around 100 perennials have been planted, seeds are being sown, cuttings taken, plants divided and, most importantly, we’re looking after the soil.
It’s been a difficult year in so many ways, and we completely understand that times are tough for so many people right now. But not being able to grow flowers just wouldn’t bear thinking about. Growing is what keeps us going, and there’s always something to look forward to in the garden.
We’ve also had lots of beautiful self-seeding this season — Cerinthe, larkspur, Ammi and more. They might not always pop up exactly where I would have planted them, but I’m taking it as a win! If they’ve chosen their own spot and are happy growing there, who am I to argue? 🌸
While it may look like things are winding down above ground, there’s actually plenty happening beneath the surface. Autumn is a busy time on the flower farm — planting, sowing, dividing and nurturing the soil for another season of blooms.
And we know that when budgets are tight, a supermarket bouquet can seem like the cheaper and easier choice. But the true cost of those flowers can be much greater than the price on the label, from how they’re grown and treated to how far they’ve travelled to reach you. 🌍
When you choose locally grown flowers, you’re not only bringing something beautiful into your home — you’re supporting a small business, keeping money within the local community and helping us continue growing flowers in a way that works with nature, rather than against it. 🌱
So, if you have any flowery plans for next year — bouquets, celebrations, weddings, gifts or simply flowers because you fancy some — we’d absolutely love to hear from you.
Every order really does mean so much to us. You’d make us very happy, and you’d be supporting a small flower farm that puts a huge amount of love into every stem. 🌸
Thank you, as always, for being here and supporting what we do. It really does mean the world. ❤️ x
