Available for sale —— Unusual & Stunning Aesthetic Movement E.J.D. Bodley Hand-Painted Landscape Cup & Saucer, c.1876
A truly striking and uncommon Aesthetic Movement porcelain cup and saucer by E.J.D. Bodley, dating to circa 1876.
This charming set beautifully captures the artistic sophistication of the late Victorian era, featuring a delicate blush-pink interior and finely hand-painted landscape panels framed within an unusual napkin design. The reserves are surrounded by scattered floral sprays and delicate blue foliate decoration, creating a wonderfully artistic and decorative composition.
A particularly distinctive feature is the elegant bamboo-form handle, reflecting the influence of Japonisme so admired during the Aesthetic Movement. The softly moulded body, refined colour palette, and hand-painted scenic decoration combine to create a piece that is both visually captivating and highly collectible.
The base bears a printed and impressed diamond registration mark.
