From dark and dated to warm, characterful and ready for a new home. 🌿

This beautiful Ercol dresser has had a complete transformation.

The original dark finish on the top was carefully stripped back to reveal the natural timber underneath, then finished with hardwax oil to enhance and protect the grain.

The body has been refinished in a rich heritage green, while original details such as the hardware, dark timber interiors and cutlery tray have all been retained.

It’s exactly the kind of project I love — taking a solid, well-made piece of furniture and giving it a fresh new chapter without losing the character that made it special in the first place.

If you have a piece at home that no longer works with your décor, feels too dark or dated, or simply needs some TLC, I offer:

Furniture painting and refinishing
Restoration of natural wood finishes
Bespoke colour and design advice
Furniture sourcing if you’re looking for something specific

Collection and delivery arrangements

Every piece is treated individually, with the finish designed around the furniture and the home it’s going into.

This Ercol dresser is also available to purchase.

If you’d like to discuss your own furniture or are looking for something similar, just send me a message with a few photos and an idea of what you have in mind.

✨ A beautiful new chapter for cherished furniture…

This lovely commission is nearing completion, and what a transformation it's been!

These three pieces — a corner display cabinet, a tall standard lamp and a nest of tables — belonged to my client's mum, so they hold special sentimental value.

Rather than replacing them, we've reimagined them to coordinate beautifully with her newly decorated room, giving them a fresh new look while retaining their original character and memories. ❤️

The dark mahogany has been transformed in a soft Heritage Sage Green, with delicate botanical bird wallpaper adding a little something special to the nesting tables. The same beautiful paper will also feature inside the glazed cabinet once the paint has fully cured.

It's been such a pleasure bringing these pieces together as a coordinated collection, and I honestly can't wait to see them in situ in their new surroundings!

Furniture with a story deserves a beautiful next chapter. 🌿

💙 Some pieces of furniture are worth so much more than money.

You may remember this beautiful sideboard that I recently transformed in Frenchic Hornblower blue, with its restored wooden top and those gorgeous silver dragonfly handles.

What made this commission particularly special was that Janet's dad had made the sideboard almost 70 years ago.

Naturally, Janet was a little nervous about having something so precious restored. I understood that completely, and it was important to me that we got everything just right.

The sideboard is now back home, taking pride of place in Janet's dining room, and she's very kindly left me this wonderful 5-star Google review. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

In Janet's own words:

"We came across Deb through Facebook. I felt so relaxed when we met her she was so clear on what was needed on the sideboard. She kept us updated from the start.

I couldn't be more delighted with the beautiful restoration of a very special piece of furniture that my dad made almost 70yrs ago. It had a huge sentimental value to me, so I was understandably nervous about having it restored.

From start to finish, she treated it with such care, respect and attention to detail.

Thank you so much Deb for beautifully restoring this special piece of furniture. It means so much to have something he created brought back to life and looking so wonderful again..

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for someone who genuinely cares about their work."

💙 This is why I love what I do.

It's not just about painting furniture. It's about listening, understanding what a piece means to someone, and helping them fall in love with it all over again.

Thank you, Janet, for trusting me with something so special and for taking the time to leave such a heartfelt review.

Here's to another 70 years of memories! 💙

Have a treasured piece of furniture that deserves a new chapter?
I'd love to hear its story.

From something treasured… to something that can be loved all over again. 💙

This sideboard was made by my client Janet’s father in his early 20s, so this was never simply a piece of furniture to repaint. It holds special memories and sentimental value.

Janet wanted to give it a new look while still keeping something of its original character. We considered a few different designs before settling on this beautiful deep Frenchic Hornblower blue, keeping the wooden top natural.

And that top certainly made me work for it! It was stripped back more than once until I was happy with the finish, while the rest of the piece was carefully prepared, filled, primed and hand painted.

Then came Janet’s choice of hardware — delicate silver dragonflies on the cupboard doors with coordinating silver k***s on the drawers. I think they absolutely make it. 🪷

When I sent Janet the finished photos, her response made all the work worthwhile:

“Hi Deb, it looks beautiful, absolutely love it, thank you so much.” 💙

This is one of the things I love most about commissions. It isn’t always about making old furniture look new. Sometimes it’s about preserving the story while creating the next chapter.

Swipe through to see where it started… I think the transformation is quite something. 💙

If you have a piece of furniture with a story of its own that no longer quite works in your home, I’d love to help you reimagine it.

Michelle found this display cabinet online because the size and shape fitted her space perfectly.

It was a good, solid piece of furniture, but the original finish wasn’t quite right for the look she wanted.

So rather than keep searching for something else, we reimagined this one.

With careful preparation, a softer colour, updated hardware and lots of attention to detail, it now feels completely at home in her space.

That’s what I love about this kind of project. Sometimes the right piece is already there — it just needs a new vision.

If you’ve found a piece that fits perfectly but isn’t quite you yet, I’m always happy to chat through what could be possible. ❤️

🌸 How one pair of bedside cabinets led to another… 🌸

I love it when a piece of furniture becomes the beginning of a much bigger story.

Jean first contacted me after falling in love with a pair of lilac botanical bedside cabinets I'd created. She bought them for her bedroom in her new home in Scotland.

But then plans started to evolve… 😊

Jean was planning a beautiful wisteria mural for her guest bedroom and realised the lilac cabinets would be absolutely perfect with it.

Which left us with another bedroom to think about!

For her own bedroom, Jean had chosen a beautiful Laura Ashley floral wallpaper, and she asked if I could find another pair of bedside cabinets and create something especially to complement it.

So the search began.
Eventually I found just the right pair — beautiful traditional cabinets with drawers, cupboards, turned detailing and lots of potential. After a 60-mile round trip to collect them, they arrived back at my workshop and the transformation began.

Jean chose a soft Duck Egg blue, picking up the tones within her wallpaper, and from there we developed her own little botanical garden. 🌿

There were lots of conversations, photographs and mock-ups along the way — moving flowers, adding stems and blossoms, butterflies and a little bee — until the two cabinets began to feel like two sides of the same garden.

They're deliberately not identical.

One is exuberant and joyful, filled with deeper pinks and florals. The other is softer, more delicate and romantic. Yet when they're placed together, they belong.

When Jean finally saw them finished, she told me:

“We can't stop looking at them… They really are works of art.”

Those words meant an awful lot. 💙

And now the story comes full circle.

The lilac pair will eventually sit alongside that wonderful wisteria mural in the guest bedroom, while these blue botanical cabinets were created especially for Jean's bedroom and her Laura Ashley wallpaper.

Two bedrooms. Two very different botanical schemes. And four pieces of furniture that started with one message asking about a pair of lilac bedside cabinets. 💜💙

This is one of my favourite parts of offering a bespoke service. You don't necessarily need to find the perfect piece of furniture yourself. If you have an idea, a colour, a wallpaper sample — or simply a feeling for how you'd like a room to look — I can help source the furniture and develop the design with you.

✨ Some furniture deserves to keep telling its story... ✨

This beautiful vintage dressing table has been lovingly transformed while preserving the feature that makes it truly special – its stunning burr walnut drawer fronts.

Finished in a soft warm mousy brown with the gentlest whisper of green, the painted finish complements the rich walnut beautifully without competing for attention.

Each drawer front has been carefully cleaned, restored and buffed to reveal the incredible grain and natural warmth of the timber, before being paired with the original ornate antique handles.

The elegant mirror, delicate jewellery drawers and original castors complete this graceful piece, making it as practical as it is beautiful.

Perfect for a bedroom, dressing room or hallway, this is a piece that brings warmth, craftsmanship and history into a modern home.

Sometimes, the most beautiful makeovers aren't about changing everything... they're about knowing exactly what deserves to stay
I'd love to know what you think of this transformation. Would you have kept the original burr walnut drawer fronts?

Every piece has a story. If you have a piece waiting for a second chance, I'd be love to help bring it back to life. Message me to find out what's possible. ✨

Before a single coat of paint goes anywhere near a piece of furniture, there's hours of preparation.

This vintage cocktail/display cabinet is being transformed into a beautiful drinks and storage cabinet for its owner.

The makeover begins by completely dismantling the cabinet—removing the doors, drawer, interior lighting and all of the handles.

From there it's thoroughly cleaned and degreased to remove years of polish, wax and everyday grime. Once dry, every painted surface is carefully sanded before being cleaned again.

Only then can the painstaking masking begin. Every mirror, glass door and edge is protected so the beautiful original interiors remain untouched while the exterior receives its new finish.

It's not the glamorous part of furniture refinishing, and it rarely appears in the final before-and-after photos, but it's one of the most important stages.

The quality and longevity of the finish depend on everything that happens before the paintbrush comes out.

I can't wait to show you the finished cabinet in its new Heritage Sage Green. 💚

What hardware would you choose to complete it – brushed brass, antique brass, black or chrome?

Let me know in the comments!

And if you have a piece of furniture you'd love to transform rather than replace, send me a message. I'd love to help bring it back to life. ✨

The best part of my job isn't painting furniture... it's seeing my customers' reactions. When Margaret collected her coffee table to complete the set I'd refinished for her. She told me it looked even better than the photos, and she hugged me twice. Moments like that remind me why I love what I do.

Three special pieces. One very special first home. ❤️

Today, these three beautiful pieces begin a new chapter with the loveliest young couple, who have chosen them for their very first home together.

They told me they had been saving, and it means so much to know they've chosen furniture with history, character and craftsmanship over something mass-produced.

These pieces are leaving my studio after hours of careful restoration and creativity, so it's always a little emotional to see them go. But I couldn't have wished for better new custodians.

Thank you both for supporting a small business and for giving these pieces a home where they'll be loved and enjoyed for many years to come. Wishing you every happiness as you begin this exciting new chapter together.

Which piece would you have chosen? The Victorian dresser, the Nathan bookcase or the G-Plan coffee table? ❤️
