Step into one of Essex’s hidden treasures this June.

Join us for a gentle guided walk through the ancient woodland of Furze Hill, Mistley, home to magnificent veteran trees including “Old Knobbley” (below) – believed to be over 800 years old – along with the wildlife and fascinating history woven around them.

Expert guides Bob Gooding and John Hall will lead the walks, sharing stories about the woodland’s birds and wildlife, the old Rigby estate, and even the remains of a WW2 army base and anti-aircraft batteries near the Secret Bunker.

The walks are family-friendly, suitable for children over 12, and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome too.

Saturday 6 June
Walk times: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm & 4pm
Starting point: Mistley Rugby Club, CO11 1HS
FREE to attend (booking required)

Afterwards, enjoy tea, cake, displays and a chat back at the Rugby Club.

Part of the Manningtree Earth Festival running until 30 June with 60+ local events celebrating nature, community and practical action.
