I’ve been making my shredded angels for over 9 years now. They were hugely popular when Alison The Curious Merchant in Masham sold them each year. We said every year, no we don’t need to do angels again, surely???
But we did…
And the last two Christmas’s in The Emporium have seen them fly out too.
No two are ever the same.
They use reloved fabrics and papers.
They have been copied of course, but most that I’ve seen have been , shall we say under par ( or cr*p).

But I’m rather chuffed that they have flown around Pinterest in abundance!
119,000 times!
They are out there and I’m not going to get all copy-writy about people being “ inspired” by them.
I’ve run workshops to make them.

However don’t try making out that they are your design and original to you…I will be miffed at that!

Oh ….

And here are a few last blast nearly Autumn pics of my front garden and the last of the swallows.
Autumn is arriving! Yay!
Happy Monday Y’all!

I’ve been sitting on these for a while…
(see what I did there? Funny huh?)
Mr Atrium has been oiling and waxing…and they look loved again.
Fischel bentwood chairs and a cute stool.

So when I say the studio workbench, what I actually mean is the Atrium Vintage Storage Facility, previously identifying as a garage….but thanks to a bit of tidying up by me now has a clear workbench for Mr Atrium to enjoy….he’s a patient chap…and a keeper!
He may have had an ulterior motive of get them done and off to the shop….out of the AVSF….

Having a jiggle around as I am judging handicrafts at the Wensleydale Show this Saturday. And as any of you country folk probably know , that’s an honour, and it’s a jolly big social gathering, with all the frills of country life rolled into one big field!
So I’ll open on Monday instead!
And sad news today about Dolly Parton , RIP lady! ….a true legend and as said, definitely NOT a dumb blonde!

It’s starting to feel a little Autumnal up here in . And I want to wear jumpers and socks again! So I’ve been eyeing up the trending styles from my favourite shops, TOAST ME+EM and COS
And they don’t disappoint! Loving the colours and crisp simple styles.
Are you like me and keep buying the same styles over and over?
I’m glad to see the neckerchief scarves are back this year….I’ve a nice selection on its way to The Emporium.
They were so popular last year.
I’ll let you know when they drop in!
Autumn vibes YAY!

Happy Monday Y’all!
This is a newly finished frill shade, which is my favourite way of finishing a scallop shade…it’s a remade little treasure heading over to the emporium.
I do like a pompom too!

I love a tapestry and the muted colours, ( which would have been much brighter when made, and have toned down with dirt and light)….
They appear on fire screens, stools and seat pads or framed, but they rarely sell like that. So I tend to dismantle them and clean them, then remake them as cushions.
This one has been and gone to a new home, so I kept this to make me smile.
Happy Saturday Y’all!

Mr Atrium and I have been on a weekend city break ( which wasn’t actually at the weekend)..we headed up to Edinburgh. Now Mr Atrium is not a fan of lots of people in one place, and he commented when booking the hotel that they were expensive. The penny hadn’t dropped….its Edinburgh Festival season…so we stayed waterfront at Malmaison Hotels in Leith, great location, average hotel…
And we avoided as much as possible actually going to Edinburgh…
We stopped off en route at Berwick upon Tweed… loved it, history, Georgian buildings great independent shops…found a few treasures for the emporium.
Then we explored Leith and to be honest settled on staying waterfront with a nice glass of wine at The Shore, Leith where there was Sunday afternoon jazz…then went next door to The Ship on the Shore and the cocktails were fab…ended up eating there …I highly recommend the scallops and the seafood linguine!
We also found the most amazing four floors of true antiques Georgian Antiques in a hidden away warehouse, everything a true 100 years old plus, and if you need enormous mirrors, mahogany, chandeliers, golf clubs and china , then that’s the place!!
A quick trip up to Stirling was uneventful, as it was mobbed with coach loads of American tourists in baseball caps, looked at the castle and went…seen that…and headed back to Edinburgh.
Determined to avoid festival followers and tourists, we kept to New Town. A wander around the circuses and streets was a delight, no tourists, just gorgeous architecture and opulence. And we found Circus Lane as well as the collection of lovely shops , where I may have acquired a couple of treats from TOAST ( yippee!)

But the best bit was finding .shop on our way back to the car. It’s only been open a few weeks and ticks every box for great eclectic homewares, vintage and contemporary! Beautifully curated and right up my street! If in Edinburgh do give it a visit!

Home now…off to York Racecourse today with my chum Jane ( she knows a thing or two about racehorses)…and I’ll be wearing a hat…true vintage, a Philip Treacy hat from 1993 that I wore for my wedding!

The Swallows are gathering in the departure lounge….ready for the off!
And today is a cool day…hurrah!
We’ve had hundreds of swallows around the house settling on the telegraph and electricity cables this week….ready to head off to Africa.

And that adds to the feeling that Autumn is coming ( even though we have the odd ridiculously hot day occasionally)….
To be honest I can’t wait! I want to wear jumpers again!
Happy Sunday Y’all!
