Good lighting starts with proportion.

Before you fall in love with a fixture, look at the space it has to hold. Ceiling height, sightlines, furniture scale and how the room is actually used all change what ‘right’ looks like. It is architectural by nature, height, structure, movement, proportion. It draws the eye upward. It connects one space to another.

It is, in many ways, the spine of a home. Which is exactly why leaving it without lighting is one of the most common design oversights we see.
