This beautiful Victorian encaustic and geometric tiled floor in Crosby was finally cleaned and sealed at the beginning of the month, marking the completion of a project that has been both challenging and rewarding.
The project was originally undertaken by Steve Sinnott of Heritage Tiling & Restoration. Following Steve's sudden passing, the work was entrusted to me to see through to completion. At the time, it was the largest floor restoration project I had taken on. However, whether it's a square metres or many more, the principles remain the same — just on a larger scale.
The floor had dropped considerably and as part of an extensive renovation to the rear of the property, the decision was made to carefully lift the floor, address the underlying issues, and relay it correctly.
The journey to completion wasn't without its challenges. From dealing with inadequate screeding and unexpected leaks to working around an ever-changing building schedule, patience and perseverance were certainly required.
Seeing the floor restored, cleaned, sealed, and looking as it should once again makes every challenge worthwhile.
A fitting result for a remarkable floor and a project I know Steve would have been proud to see completed.
