From dated orange to modern oak.

Check out the photos below to see the transformation of this solid oak herringbone floor.

The before was a classic case of tired, orange toned lacquer that was hiding the natural beauty of the wood. We performed a full restoration, stripping back years of wear to reveal the original grain.

To achieve this crisp, contemporary look, we finished the floor with an invisible lacquer containing a subtle hint of white. This keeps the oak looking like raw timber while providing maximum protection.

No more orange. Just timeless, natural oak.

A premium finish needs a proper foundation. You cannot lay a herringbone floor over a ridge and expect it to last.

On this project the builders left an extreme peak in the subfloor exactly where the original house met the new extension. Rather than a massive rip out, we used acoustic matting either side of the peak and levelling compound on the ridge to create a perfectly flat continuous surface.

The floor is a beautiful tumbled oak supplied by , finished in a rich espresso oil for an authentic period look. To add to that original feel, we ran a two block border around the perimeter of the room, deliberately bypassing the modern kitchen units and island. It makes the floor look like it has been there for decades.

Big thanks to for the recommendation on this one. Quality over speed. Proper prep over quick fixes.

🪵 These original pine floorboards had spent their whole life hidden under layers of old coverings, unloved, unappreciated, and walked all over. Literally. Until we stepped in. 😎

Our job? Give them the spotlight they deserved.

🛠️ First, we repaired and re-secured boards that had been knocked loose over the years by electricians and plumbers. We also borrowed matching boards from another room being carpeted (don’t worry we replaced them with new ones!) to keep things seamless.

🔩 Once the repairs were complete, we got to work: face nails punched down, gaps and holes filled with dark brown flexible acrylic filler (built to handle expansion and contraction), and a full sanding to bring everything together.

🎨 Finally, we applied a ceramic fortified lacquer in satin sheen. Durable, low maintenance, and absolutely beautiful. From forgotten subfloor to feature floor, the transformation speaks for itself.

Not going to lie, this job turned into a bit of a labour of love but I’m absolutely thrilled with how it turned out, as are the new homeowners and 🏡✨

From the moment I measured up, I knew this was a wood floor I really wanted to work on. You don’t often come across original herringbone flooring in such dark exotic species 🌍 I believe the timber is Sapele, possibly mixed with Rhodesian Teak, but I’d love to hear from any flooring or timber specialists who might recognise it. 🪵👀

Once work started, it became clear the floors in all three bedrooms, the hallway and the lounge were either loose or completely unstable. Some areas had to be lifted, cleaned and re-laid while others were fixed from the top.

Everything was then sanded, filled and finished with a satin lacquer. The end result speaks for itself ✨

This Solid Oak Herringbone Parquet floor required some adjustments after the installation of a new fireplace and bi-fold doors. Additionally, we addressed areas where pipe boxing had been removed and replaced a mat well as per the client's request.

Once all the alterations were complete, the entire floor was sanded and sealed with a durable matt lacquer.

This unfinished solid oak herringbone parquet was installed, sanded, and finished on-site. To achieve a raw, untreated timber look, we used a two-component white pigmented lacquer, giving the floor a natural finish that enhances the beauty of the oak.

This grey factory finished engineered oak floor had seen better days. Its worn and tired appearance called for a refresh, and that is exactly what we delivered.

We sanded it down to remove the old finish and brought it back to life with an ultra matt lacquer with a whitener additive. The result is a bright and modern look that gives this space a fresh and stylish feel while protecting the floor for years to come.

Here’s a Solid Oak Herringbone Parquet floor with a double block border featuring Oak and Wenge signature strips, originally fitted by my old boss over 20 years ago. The quality was so good that the floor was still in excellent condition. However, some recent building work including a larger kitchen opening and removal of the under-stairs cupboard meant the flooring needed extending to seamlessly blend with the original design.

Finding a match wasn’t easy, the existing blocks were a unique 267mm length that none of my suppliers stocked. I used 280mm blocks, carefully cut them down to size, routered new grooves, and cut down solid oak planks for the signature strip. Thankfully, I was able to source matching Wenge strips to complete the border.

After extending the floor, I sanded it down and finished the entire area with a durable matt lacquer.

Swipe to see the transformation!

This lounge was set for a new carpet installation when the homeowners discovered the same 3-strip engineered maple floor that was exposed in their hallway.

After cancelling their new carpet order, they called us to restore the flooring to its former glory. It was sanded down and finished with an invisible lacquer for a natural look with a subtle matt sheen 👌

We sourced and patched in Redwood Pine Floorboards at both the front and rear of this property, replacing old, rotted joists with new, treated joists. To ensure longevity, we also tanked the joists to prevent future moisture issues. 👌

For those who know, preparing and staining Redwood Pine is no easy task. But we think we nailed it with a Light Oak Stain, finished with Hardwax Oil in Matt Sheen for a natural look. 👌
