Chair transformation!
From an very old nursing chair to a children's bedroom chair. I love this change as you can still feel the age of the chair and it's previous purpose, but still able to breath new life into it again, using scrap cutoff fabric and opened tester pot paint - no waste here!

Teaching myself as I go meant I'm giving myself time to grow and develop into the designer I want to be. I use to think I needed to know it all before I started this journey - I was kidding myself! As I follow through with my projects I ask myself questions along the way, I make mistakes and learn from them, and the next time round is always so much better. Less striving for perfection, more progression and growth!!

There are very many paint finishes, and dependant on the room to the general use of the furniture this has great importance. Gloss for a high sheen finish, goes well in modern interiors and hard wearing... Satin for a slight sheen great for delicate style furniture. Matte makes a statement for a classic finish, and lastly distressed - most who like this finish have themed their interior as vintage/bohemian which can tie well together in any space.

Soooo many layers to upholstery!!
I love the process of fixing up a chair rather than buying new. Giving a new life to a chair thats been in the family forever or simply worn over time. It's simple, effective and usually cheaper than buying new. Buy second hand and do up I say👍🏻

Sunday in Versailles chair
A simple but effective recovering of this stunning piece - using scrap fabric leftover from projects. The wood was need in repair. Lastly a coat of a tester pot paint, absolutely NO WASTE. Perfectly fit for a summers day on a baloney sipping on a gin (or whatever you fancy!!)

Prep before Paint!
It's so exciting to get a new fresh colour on a project, but without the prep, it won't reach the potential and quality finish that it could do otherwise.

Depending on the piece, I will sand back the wood to a matt like appearance, making sure I'm going from medium grain paper to a fine paper to get a smooth result. Clean down with an old rag and water.

TIP📌 Use a small nib paint brush to get sanding dust from narrow grooves!
