Flying home from Sint Maarten to Heathrow via Washington. The end of the runway is Maho Beach, famous for fighting the down draft of the jet engines and chasing towels down the beach! 🏖️ Whilst I was trying to take a photo of Lisette in Simpson Bay Lagoon Julian was videoing my departure 🛫 I hope no one lost their towel as we took off 😬✈️💨

Sadly the sun is setting on my part of this adventure and it’s time to leave the Caribbean before the hurricane season. Julian is sailing solo towards Maine 🇺🇸via Bermuda 🇧🇲 and I’m flying home for a few months.
Beautiful memories of sun, sea, sky and great company!

Always a nervous moment when the boat lifts out of the water hoping the slings holding our 20+ tonne home won’t slip!
What a little microcosm of crustaceans we have been carrying around the Caribbean. Time for a good scrub off, polish the propeller and safely back into the water.
We should sail a bit faster now!

Caught a local bus from Philipsburg 🇳🇱to Marigot 🇫🇷. Just a $2US fare each way and a great way to see the island. Our mission was to source engine filters and boat yards for a lift out, neither was entirely successful but a good look around the town was achieved! Hurricane damaged buildings are still evident everywhere you go🥺

Entering the Simpson Bay Lagoon via the lifting bridge, which has been the cause of many a scrap along the hull sides of super yachts🛥️ .
The area is a major hub for chandlery supplies and a place for getting jobs done and we have a huge list to tick off.
The lagoon is overlooked by the islands airport so it’s never quiet!

Arriving in Sint Maarten 🇸🇽 and realising our Dutch 🇳🇱 courtesy flag has seen some serious wear and tear but we’re flying it anyway. Philipsburg is a metropolis of bars, casinos and duty free shopping all designed to serve the cruise ship populations which change daily! A walk around after 6pm is very peaceful once the cruise ships leave.

As we rocked at anchor there was a constant procession of small aircraft landing 🛬 once they reach the brow of the hill they have to drop down onto one of the shortest runways. Standing on the hill I’m still not sure how they missed many cars?! 😬😵‍💫😬

St Bart’s is known to be the playground of the extremely wealthy. Walk around Gustavia with me to see pristine pavements, high end French brands on every avenue and views of mega yachts at every turn. It is quoted that during New Year festivities over $10B worth of Super Yachts are moored in and around the harbour🤯

An empty St Kitt’s capital, Basseterre, on Easter Monday! It is recognised as a walkable capital with Georgian architecture and influences. The island gained independence for the UK in 1983 and the Independence Square with amazing trees was once known as Pal Mall whilst the clock tower sits on The Circus, apparently named after Piccadilly Circus in London!
