I want to say something to every person who has been told they are being too precious about their renovation.

You are not.

Choosing where a wall comes down, where the kitchen sits, whether the layout actually works for how your family lives. These are not decisions to be rushed. They are not decisions to make under pressure from a builder who needs an answer by Friday.

They are the decisions that shape how your home feels to live in every single day.

The ones that are expensive, complicated or impossible to undo once the build has moved on.

Feeling the weight of that is not overthinking. It is completely appropriate.

The mistake is not caring too much. The mistake is not having the visual information you need to make those decisions properly.

That is exactly what I am here for. 🤍

A few clients have asked me for exactly this recently, so I have added two new ways to start.

Layout Design looks at how your space works. Where things sit, how you move through it, whether the flow and function are right before anything else gets decided.

Scheme Design gives you a design direction board and a colour palette to build from, rather than a scattering of ideas that could leave you more confused or overwhelmed than when you started.

Layout Design is £195, Scheme Design is £495, and both can be booked directly on the website. If you decide later that you want to go further, into a Virtual Concept or a Curated project, what you have already paid counts toward it.

Most people do not know what interior design actually costs until they ask, and asking can feel like the first step of a commitment they are not ready for.

The Home Investment Guide removes that barrier. It sets out exactly what each stage of working with LABODE involves and what it costs, from a single room layout through to a fully curated project.

It is free to download and genuinely useful whether you are working with me or just trying to plan properly.

There is a moment in almost every renovation when the excitement gives way to something that feels a lot like panic.

You have the floor plan. You have the quotes. The build is about to start.

And yet you cannot picture it. Not really. Not in a way that lets you make decisions with any confidence.

That is not a failure of imagination. It is a completely normal response to being handed a 2D drawing and being expected to visualise a three dimensional home from it.

Nobody can do that easily. And nobody should have to.

Seeing it in 3D changes everything. Not just what the room looks like, but how certain you feel about every decision that follows.

That certainty is what I give my clients before a single wall goes up or comes down.

Save this if you know someone who needs to read it. 🤍

This room had to do two things at once.

A proper workspace for the adults. A snug for the kids and their friends to pile into and watch films.

The brief was to make both feel intentional rather than compromised. Not an office with a sofa awkwardly pushed to one side. Not a TV room with a desk crammed into a corner.

Clean white cabinetry running the length of the wall with open shelving above for both storage and display. A calm neutral palette that works just as well at 9am with a coffee and a laptop as it does on a Friday evening with the lights low and a film on.

The room sits within a full home renovation and extension. Every space in this house was considered as part of the whole before anything was built or bought.

That is exactly where the thinking needs to happen.

Modern traditional interiors rely on restraint.
Too much modern and the space feels cold.
Too much traditional and it feels heavy.

The balance sits in between, where each element supports the other.
It is less about combining styles and more about refining them.

The brief was clear: a long, narrow bedroom, a separate dressing area, and absolutely no open wardrobes.

The challenge was making it all work without the room feeling carved up or cramped.

The solution was a U-shaped wardrobe opposite the entrance, housing a built-in dressing table and keeping everything beautifully contained. But the real moment comes when you turn right.

The end of the bed comes into view. Cream looped carpet, dark wood bedsides, lamps either side. Sage on the walls. A wide footstool at the foot of the bed. Art above the headboard.

It has the feeling of arriving in a room at a very good hotel, except it's yours, every single night.

Calm. Considered. Completely theirs.

This is what good spatial planning does. It doesn't just solve the problem. It creates something you didn't know you were missing.

If you're working with a challenging room, I'd love to help. Link in bio.

This is one of the most interesting things a client has ever said, and I want to share the detail behind it because it explains exactly what good design support looks like in practice.

This was a house renovation. The architect was appointed, the brief was set, and the project was moving forward. But when I came on board, the conversations started going deeper.

A lintel removal that allowed three Crittall style screens to sit at the same height. Without visualising the alternatives first, they would have accepted a compromise for the sake of a few hundred pounds. Seeing it properly made the decision straightforward.

The options for an internal wall between kitchen and dining, explored in 3D with their own furniture in place. An architect could have drawn the options. But seeing them furnished and lived in gave them the confidence to commit.

A floor tile layout with four options presented visually. They chose a design they had not even considered before seeing it, one that suited the room proportions better than anything they had originally imagined. And it saved them fifty percent of my fee in materials alone.

This is what visualisation does. It does not just show you what something looks like. It shows you what you would have missed.

If you are working with an architect or builder and feel like something is not quite being captured, I would love to be part of the conversation. 🤍
